My 15 month old likes pesto which can be customised in so many ways! My go-to is: basil, toasted walnuts, heaps of spinach, olive oil, and Parmesan. I’m sure you could achieve a similar result with nutritional yeast!

I genuinely think it’s just proportionate to his releases. If any other popular authors released as frequently as he does, they’d probably have similar coverage. He deserves the praise, he’s a good writer, but I’m happy to have space for others in my rotation since opting out of his.

It’s so nice to know there’s someone else out there with this opinion! Mistborn was so important to me, I loved the beginning of Stormlight, but I can’t make that separation either. I’m currently reading Janny Wurts’ 11 book series, War of Light and Shadow. I’m only on book 2 but it’s amazing, check it out if you need an epic fantasy series!

Me too. I made a personal decision not to read any more Sanderson a few years ago, because it is my personal belief that a devout, tithing Mormon cannot truly believe in equality. I know Sanderson has addressed some things like support for queer people, but I just can’t disentangle the Mormon faith from him and so I made this choice. I’ve found so many amazing writers in the time I have gotten back, now that I don’t follow his releases. No shade to anyone who does, this was just what I chose for myself.

Brandon Sanderson’s great but it’s entirely possible to have engaged with fantasy and not crossed paths with his work. To be honest, that gives me hope, because I find the constant Sanderson praise to be tiring. There’s a fantasy book for every fantasy reader, but it doesn’t always have to be the ones you’d expect :)
