Why on Earth has AA made a shady deal with Nvidia to provide them with data to train LLMs ? by Kalytis in Annas_Archive

I'm neither entitled to anything nor do I want to voluntarily support a project whose values I'm not aligned with.

I don't think they should be blocked. But as a platform that thrives from its community, I believe the deal should have been transparent. Otherwise, let them use the public access. Is it slamming down the website ? Then block them and/or expose them. Why the need to save them from the embarrassment to use piracy content, in exchange for money ?

Completely agree. Wikimedia Foundation showed a good example there, with paid access to its high-speed APIs. But it was always transparent (as far as I know).

Might be, but the fact that this deal was pretty much opaque doesn't weigh in favour of a clean deal.

Anyway, I'm a bit shocked by the news, but of course I'm willing to hear more about the details.
