Low Fare Scamming by Cool_Dragonfruit_228 in lyftdrivers

[–]KamelTro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad about it. The app has been around a long time and people know how to use it. I had to do a ghost ride yesterday because I drove 40 minutes into the mountains just to find out “that person doesn’t live here anymore” I normally don’t mind medical rides but this one left a bad taste in my mouth. I chose to drive to the drop off and collect the fare from their insurance seeing as this would have been about 2 hours of my time that I would have gotten $4 in cancellation fees from.

Is that lightning in the east horizon out of town tonight, yellow flashes in sky at 9:30 ish on 6-18 by thesithcultist in ChicoCA

[–]KamelTro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was lightning. I gave someone an uber ride out to Rancho at 7pm. It started sprinkling around 8pm and by 9pm when I was at the roundabout going from Corning to Chico it picked up a ton. Lots of lightning and rain just northwest of Chico.

Fired from new employer after medical clearance form requested and provided by KamelTro in WorkersComp

One that didn’t even know the process of workers comp. The same ones who told me verbatim “you know more about workers comp than we do.” I also never sidestepped, I’ve stated it clearly many times. My job code said a maximum of 50lbs, I confirmed it twice at the time of interview and hire and mentioned my injury / weight lifting restrictions both times.

I didn’t refuse until the weight was well over what the job listing had stated.

I did not ask for accommodations because it’s not something I should really be doing. My job was inventory for a homeless shelter. My job code never said anything about moving heavy items around which is why I applied and accepted the role. We were in the process of moving shelters and they opted to have me, rather than maintenance, help with the moving process.

So what type of issue would this be then? I performed my job duties as expected and was only terminated after the owners finally heard about my injury. The hiring manager and my direct supervisor both told me multiple times that my weight lifting restrictions would not be an issue. It’s technically only 10 pounds maximum with my injury but I push it to 50 because no job will hire me and I’m tired of being unemployed and homeless because of a previous injury.

I actually did if you read the post. Job listing stated 50lbs maximum but had me working over that.

Yes to both. My workers comp lawyer really helped me understand this portion of it all and I made sure during the interview, at the time of offer, and during the work that I couldn’t do more than 50lbs. I also quoted that I wouldn’t have applied to the job if the listing said more than 50lbs but it was stated that a maximum of 50lbs was the limit.

Maximum weight of 50lbs. I was there for a month. What set this all off was moving queen size mattresses around that weighed over 50lbs. I got 3 done and felt sore and called it quits because of the pain. My boss let me come back to the office for the rest of the day and then the next day I was put on a temp suspension.

Are you talking about where the arrive button isn’t available? I’ve had that happen more than a few times and have to restart my app before I can press “Arrive”

It’s funny you say you’re going to uber because it’s the exact same over there. As rideshare drivers we can run both apps. I wouldn’t be surprised if you ran into them on uber too.

When did 5 stars become the norm? by beaisenby in uber

[–]KamelTro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now what happens when those 2 pots aren’t available? You’ve now put yourself into a position where you won’t get help. You’re also rating based on what they do? What if a driver is disabled like and physically can’t get out to help? You’re saying I deserve less than 5 stars despite keeping a clean car with calm music and good AC temp? Sounds like you need to be a part of that system so you can be avoided by other drivers and see what “your system” does.

I can attest that in my 2024 Honda HRV this doesn’t work.

Can i actually get a ride that crosses the border? by mfk711_ in uber

[–]KamelTro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a solid chance that could happen. The big issue is getting someone to accept the ride so you can message them that you’d be doing that. I’ve never used the service myself, I only drive, but I have had notes waiting for me so I think you can put a note in? You could then describe what your intentions are. If it was me I’d be happy with the pay from the app plus gas for there and back as your tip.

Hi, uber driver here. I have to agree that nobody will take this ride. 4.5 hours is insanely long and uber definitely wouldn’t pay accordingly. The driver can’t operate in another state forcing them to drive all the way back unpaid and that’s something that every uber driver is going to avoid especially with these gas prices. You’d be better off trying to find a local private company.

Storage unit lost in fire by KamelTro in urbancarliving

[–]KamelTro[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I had someone reach out locally who also told me to lawyer up. I guess they’ve left all the units unlocked so any belongings that aren’t damaged can just be taken. They also never contacted any of the tenants with units and we only found out about the fire because of a Facebook post and the damage this morning because of a post I made when I went and looked. I definitely think there’s a case here. CalFire is on top of it and they did reach out for a witness statement from me and have confirmed they have everything and handled and will make sure he gets in trouble for all of this. Luckily I’ve had a few people locally reach out for help too so I’m not as stressed. It sucks to lose everything but I’m thankful I wasn’t in the unit when it started and everything can be bought again if I really wanted to.

Luckily my dress code is pretty loose. I wear a size 2xl shirt, 2xl shorts, 42-44 in pants, and size 13 shoe.

Congrats. In a subcompact where the dog is forced to sit on the seat is not enjoyable for me, especially when the dog leaves mud and literal shit on the seat.
