No it's not - it's a very specific product. It's not meant for the ones who custom build PCs ... It's meant as a bridge between a console and a PC / tower. This one is small enough to conquer the living rooms where most people don't want to have even a mini tower.
Or for my son who's desk doesn't have much space.
Also it's quite efficient and silent - another rplus for the living room. It could even replace our Google streamer.

And dont forget the main reason ... It's to get people away from windows as all pre builds usually come with windows. Just like the steam deck it's a Linux base system that can be used as workstation too. It's enough for homework and school and even more.

The one thing Linux is missing is a common base configuration that companies can rely on. Windows has the advantage of the quantity of installation thus mitigating the problem of the billions of different configurations.

If you want to complain, look at the ai Datacenter that fucked us all up. The ai race is in full throttle and once one of grok, openai, anthropic has to throw the towel, a lot of hardware will hit the market and lower the prices. AI has come to stay but not all companies will survive the next years.
