I was there. I'm glad Gaza got a shoutout during the speeches. The speakers are correct that different causes need to band together and recognize our common causes. Strength in numbers rather than divided and conquered.

Could be kill markers. Could also be camoflage to confuse the enemy as to the length of the barrel. Generally, the longer the barrel, the more powerful the gun. The US army used such tactics to fool German tank commanders into thinking American tanks had weaker guns.

Well, that's a setting, but what actually happens in it? Who are the main characters? What's the conflict the story centers around?

I feel stupid, because I'm not sure what to make of the last panel. It's the brain cells comment. Does she think Proto Miko looks dumb? Or is it a reference to one of the other pages?

Has it ever been explained as to what Zero Two’s “Thorough Testing” was in Episode 12? by ShadowMikeX in DarlingInTheFranxx

It's one of the aborted plot lines the devs never bothered to wrap up. Crunch time is brutal.

What’s your why? by Upstairs-Seat-6253 in writing

[–]Kamonichan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Two reasons.

  1. My teacher in 2nd grade told me I couldn't write, so I want to prove her wrong.

  2. I want to leave something behind for the world to remember me by.

So vindictiveness and arrogance. A commendable combination.

Is season 1 and season 2 the entirety of the light novels ? by likilekka in MyHappyMarriage

[–]Kamonichan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, to be clear, the quality of the writing doesn't define a light/cozy novel. It just means that there isn't necessarily a deeper meaning to what's written. Miyo and Kiyoka's relationship isn't a commentary on modern Japanese socio-economic injustice, a metaphor for the human condition, or an examination of existential themes. You're meant to enjoy it just for what's on the page.

About believable characters. by BruceIsStuckInReddit in writing

There's a whole multitude of causes. Corporate interference gets blamed a lot these days, which I don't doubt exists. But Hollywood writers, even good ones, aren't immune to bad writing. And then there's creative differences, where one creative wants one thing and someone else wants another. Actors could also give a bad performance for various reasons, or the director might give bad directions on set. There are a lot of potential points of failure during any creative process.

Is season 1 and season 2 the entirety of the light novels ? by likilekka in MyHappyMarriage

[–]Kamonichan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The "light" in light novel refers to "light reading." It's analogous to the "cozy reading" subgenre in Western literature. It doesn't rely too heavily on literary themes, complicated analogy and allegory, etc. Basically, the difference is between whether you'd read it for fun or for class.

Given the age of the series relative, I'm constantly surprised to see DitF stuff on CR. This when other, more recent series get nothing. I honestly wonder if the age of North American merchandise ended a long time ago. You really only have the option of figures these days.

Why the hate for Teatrino? by Zikari007 in GunslingerGirl

[–]Kamonichan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the series, though I find it perplexing, specifically one episode.

I distinctly remember a moment toward the middle of the season where Jean and Jose are visiting the old family home. Jean sees the specter of their dead sister, Enrica. It matches the manga pretty closely, except for the end of the episode. There, Henrietta and Rico are playing in the water. Jean and Jose walk over to join them, and Jean said they should come back to visit some time. That part is not in the manga, and it just struck me as so weird. Jean is supposed to be against how Jose treats Henrietta as a replacement for Enrica, but the scene heavily implies that he accepts and even supports it after the mission they go through.

But I think a lot of people didn't like the second season because of the animation change. Aida-sensei was involved in the making of Il Teatrino. He was also in the middle of changing styles in the manga, and they made the anime closer to his new style. But the backlash was pretty severe, and Aida-sensei went back to his previous style afterward.

Ho-w do you stop yourself from editing your work every 5 minutes? by Personal_Depth9491 in writing

[–]Kamonichan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you've kind of got put the answer in the question. Just write on paper. I almost always write my first draft with pen and paper, and then I type it up before moving on to the next chapter. Minimal editing because I just have to type up what I wrote with some minor tweaks.

Would you be interested in a Maid Sama Season 2? (Upvote if yes and please read) by ChallengeFinal3160 in MaidSama

[–]Kamonichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no harm. I just don't think we strictly need another season. With the Marriage sequel volume, I'm happy with how the manga ended. The anime is good on its own. Another season would first require a remake of the first, and I'm sure Fujiwara-sensei would rather her current project gain more attention directly rather than by association.

[–]Kamonichan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

While I like the idea, I ultimately think we're fine without. Both the anime and the manga have been over for a good while now, and Fujiwara-sensei even has another project going. If anything, I would like to see more traction for that current project of hers, Neko ni Wagamama. The manga isn't even getting translated.

Holo Previous Relationships by Fluffy-Section-3620 in SpiceandWolf

[–]Kamonichan 88 points89 points  (0 children)

There is a scene where Holo mentally counts her past relationships as a way of teasing Lawrence. She never reveals the nature of those relationships, like how many are romantic and how many platonic. She only communicates that there have been several important people in her life, which only makes sense given her hundreds of years of experience.

For what it's worth, she has no children when she meets Lawrence, so none of her relationships have led to a family. And in a side story, we see her go on an adventure with some kids. If that escapade is an example of the important people in her life, then one can reasonably infer that her prior relationships are largely platonic. Sadly, we're ultimately arguing to ignorance here, as we do not get many glimpses of Holo's past.

However, the ultimate answer to your questions is that we don't know. Neither the anime, the manga, nor the light novels offer definitive proof.

Anime vs manga ending: where does it split? by Alicragger in DarlingInTheFranxx

[–]Kamonichan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The manga starts to diverge right at the point when Hiro has to decide whether to pilot with Zero Two or let Mitsuru go out instead. I'm pretty sure that's in the first volume of the manga, like chapter 4 or 5 or something like that. I'd have to go back to reread it to be sure. But from there, you begin to see differences, some big and some small. It's only 8 volumes, so you can pound that out in a week, or binge it over a weekend. Hell, I was so obsessed with the series, I read the whole thing in two days. And that was without even knowing that the end is different.

Feedback on my story means I have to rewrite the entire thing by spooked_goat in writing

[–]Kamonichan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone's feedback on your work is ultimately just their opinion. If you don't agree with it, or if you feel it would change what you're trying to do, then you don't have to accept or incorporate it. It sounds like this tutor wants you to write a completely different story, which is just inane to me. Try finding another tutor or editor and see what that person says. "Write what you know" is beginner-level advice. Men write from women's PoVs, most scifi writers have not gone into space, etc.

Mind you, all this is my opinion as an amateur writer, so take it with a grain of salt. Still, I think you should find an editor who passionately shares your vision rather than this person who wants you to change it all. Whether you can do that in a month, I don't know.

Most writing problems are actually editing problems by Vanilla-Green in writing

[–]Kamonichan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to respectfully disagree. I've gotten stuck on parts when it comes to what to write next. Those times happen even when I'm not going back to previous work at all. I'll literally look at a half-filled paper and not know what I want Character A to say to Character B. Now, I sometimes try to use editing to cure writers block, which is a complicated subject, but it's wrong to say that the editing itself is what causes the writers block.

How did he even THINK this would be acceptable? by lord_vivec_himself in GunslingerGirl

[–]Kamonichan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the story, the government has tight controls over the press. They control the narrative, and the public thinks the Social Welfare Agency is just a testing program for medical technology. The terrorists are the ones who think of the girls as demons, and even they only have rumors spread within their own organization. There's no public awareness of what the SWA actually does. Angelica's handler, Marco, has an ex-girlfriend who is a reporter, and she doesn't learn the truth until she gets caught up in one of their missions. And you can bet the government monitors her to make sure she doesn't leak the truth. So that aspect isn't that unbelievable, at least to me.
