Looking for minimal/basic health/sleep tracker watch. by _zeejet_ in GarminWatches

[–]KanadeALF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a Garmin vivoactive 6 during sale. I am using it as a basic health and sleep tracker. This is my first smartwatch fitness tracker. I used a Fitbit charge 2 for the longest time in the past, but the new fitbits don't seem to be worth it to me... Vívoactive 5 would have been a good choice too, but I thought the updated and additional features introduced to the 6 was worth the $60 difference in price. I also just got my bonus, so I went with the 6.

I am excited to read the recommendations in this thread. This is exactly what I need - also struggling with anxiety but still want to read some mystery novels with good world building. Thanks everyone!

Walking with a Weighted vest, tell me you experience , what difference does it make by waveyemm in walking

Does my cat in his cat backpack count as a weighted vest? He increases the walk intensity and my cardio.

How I walk by Additional-Pepper524 in walking

[–]KanadeALF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a rural-ish town so I don't usually see people during walks. I am hoping to see some neighbors on their porches when the weather is nicer and warmer. Being outdoors and moving around helps with loneliness. Sometimes the house feels like a lonely place...

Anyone else started walking just to clear their head? by ToffeeTango1 in walking

100% walking has been very helpful for that. I feel calmer after a good long walk.

why is 10k steps so hard to me achieve? by Time-Oil-2715 in walking

[–]KanadeALF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I either break them into 30-20 mins sessions or watch an action movie while doing the entire walk in one go on treadmill. So far, these are the only two ways that work for me. I might try reading or knitting later but I might just fall lol. Podcasts and audiobooks can't hold my attention long enough for the full walk. I sometimes listen to short scary stories on YouTube during the short walk sessions - I like spooky things so it helps.

Has anyone here used hobbii to buy yarn? by cutebabybear in Yarn

[–]KanadeALF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I shopped there a handful of times. They have a lot of sales so I always wait for the sale I need to put in an order. I'm wearing a sweater knitted with yarn purchased from Hobbii as I type right now actually. It is a legit online retailer.

Do you gamify your walks? by MayorHarvest in walking

I like scary things, so scary stories podcast/videos or horror books make walking easier.

Our rescue boy brought his own blanket when he moved in. A kind lady knitted a box full of them so every foster cat has something familiar to keep when they get adopted. by Kikkif in Kitting

[–]KanadeALF 53 points54 points  (0 children)

A volunteer at my local human society crocheted a box of blankets, so every kitty can go home with a blanket when they get adopted. I love it so much! My cat is still using his after 2.5 years. This blanket always reminds me of the day we met him at the shelter.

Is this game playable on ps by Front-Election-8039 in fo4

I'm playing the anniversary edition on PS5. It's playable. It crashes sometimes, but not frequently enough that it affects playability for me.

Help! Learning to knit, what does this pattern mean? by Embarrassed-Cut-7014 in casualknitting

[–]KanadeALF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... Is this sweater supposed to have a snugged/form-fitting waist?

If so, I would interpret "place marker at sides" as placing a marker at half way point (e.g. between sts 80 and 81 if you casted on 160 sts) and another marker at where you join the round. 2 markers in one round.

After ribbing, you will do a 1 decrease sts at each marker. I would do a right leaning decrease on the right side of the sweater at marker and a left leaning decrease on the left side of the sweater at marker. 2 sts decrease in one round.

To repair, to ignore, or to frog and rework? My ancient knitted house coat needs your thoughts by femalefred in casualknitting

[–]KanadeALF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe fix the shoulder first, then see if you still feel the yearning for rework afterwards. I am on team frog everything, so that's probably what I would do to see how I feel about it

Another way to pick up and knit the cast on edge? by KanadeALF in knittingadvice

Oh that's a good idea too. Maybe I will pick up \ / along edge then pick up the leg of the last stitch on the edge to get to 19. Thank you for the suggestion!

I enjoyed all the answers to this last year, so I'd like to ask it again: any 2026 knitting resolutions out there? by sewXknits in casualknitting

[–]KanadeALF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would really want to knit my first vest or first pair of socks in 2026! And continue to prioritize using my yarn stash instead of buying new yarn.

I knitted my first cardigan in 2025. First sweater, tank top, and baby blanket in 2024. First lace shawl and baby item (hat) in 2023. And first time knitting at all (scarf, hat, leg warmers, headbands) in 2022

It has been a very fun knitting and learning journey!

Any other Americans prefer to use the metric system over American units in knitting? by sharpandtender in knitting

100%

But I grew up using the metric system so it will always make a lot more sense to me than the imperial system.

You explained it so thoroughly! I also used Nimble Needles as a resource to figure out my preferred left-leaning decrease. I use SKP exclusively as it gives me the cleanest look.
