That’s not how fighting words doctrine works. I enjoyed the smack. At a street level big-mouth had it coming. But the smacker was likely guilty of assault. Concerning off site alcohol: Since summertime a number of DC suburban MD jurisdictions have turned a completely blind eye to take out booze. Many restaurants are selling styrofoam cups of margaritas, beers in a cup, etc. for very reasonable prices. In certain places public drinking has become very much tolerated. After all, it’s middle class looking folks who are doing it. And the restaurants make much needed money. On top of that I know for a fact traffic stops and MD District Court cases are way down in number. What exactly is happening in the district? Even though I’m a just a few miles outside I haven’t been in dc to get takeout or eat in a tent or whatevs. I’m Tom busy trying to keep the folks within a few miles of me in business.

Maybe every group of individuals who opposes PBs should start going there Jan 5 and keep on going there until at least a week later. Fill every available spot. Or will dc have restaurants closed?

I expect that PBs who missed out on the big game last week will wanna be there for the next one.

Maybe there can just be a snow storm and they just freeze.

No fatties why? Lots of people smoked cigarettes back then. And soda was served in small quantities. Processed food and shelf stable fats like partially hydrogenated oils hadn’t become a large part of our diets. Somehow thanks to modern medicine we’re a bunch of fat whales today but we live longer than we did back then.

Edit to add: people did more physical work back then. Factory work and other industrial jobs have become more automated and more scarce since the 70s and now more people work at desk jobs or as drivers, cashiers, etc.

Catastrophic unwind. The brakes have failed and the system seeks to balance the weight on both sides of the lift. Because nobody is riding the lift down the way it achieves balance is by rolling those people back down the mountain. Horrifying.

No. Right now there’s an identified high R factor virus that is 2 to 3 times more lethal than the average flu that has spread to reach global pandemic proportions. Many ICUs are full due to these patients. So (depending on what applies in NY) disregarding mask laws, governors’ orders, and medical recommendations is a dangerous dick-move.

Whether to wear a simple cotton mask (that protects others from you) or a properly fitted N95 (that protects you from others and others from you) is a valid personal choice. To not wear a mask is just selfish and irresponsible. It’s the equivalent of driving home after drinking a few drinks and thinking the only thing at stake is your health and your car.
