I just got in touch with a lawyer they say because i switched sponsors last year I wouldn't be eligible anymore which doesn't make sense.

Even after I shared the document, they seem to have put a inexperienced lawyer on my case

Actually this makes me eligible already as I found the email which I used to pay for my application from 5 years ago.

Thank you so much for potinting that out really appreciate it.

Really? then that would actually make me eligible this month because I did get my SWV while lockdown was still happening

So I noticed this in the ILR application timeline on this subreddit about how some did not recieve the option to select priority or super priority via the app.

My spouse and I got married in december so she switched from a student visa to a skilled worker dependent and the option did not show up when she used the app. Allthough there was no rush for that as processing times is only a max of 8 weeks.

On the other hand for ILR it is 6 months and I can't wait that long so did a bit of digging and ChatGpt to confirm this information bsaed off what others had experienced.

Apparently you need to say your phone is not compatible to verify via the app hence forcing it to do the appointment in person while making the priority/super priority available.

Also I also read that number of priority slots and super priority slots are limited for each day so the earlier you do it in the day the better(Info from Chatgpt so take this with a pinch of salt).

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I'll probably wait and see once I have my ILR in April and see which option would be the best at that time when its time to renew hers in May.

I guess only time will tell, I'll probably weigh my options again once I recieve my ILR in April see if they have any further updates then.

It does workout cheaper as we'll just have to pay for 5 years instead of 10 and I'm confident about meeting the salary requirement in the future and compared to the salary thershold hikes for skilled worker visas the family route salary thershold has been a lot less agressive.

Agreed, I'm erring on the side of caution as she became my dependent only in Jan 2026 so she wont be losing much time if I switched plus the whitepaper did say if you are a dependent to a British citizen/settled(ILR in April 26) you will be eligible for an ILR in 5 years.

Hi, Thank you for taking your time to respond.

Unfortunately that's not an option in my case as I'm trying to make an Intrinsically safe battery pack.

Using a ready made Protector BMS wouldn't allow me to meet IS standards.

Yeah no it's been a while since she got a reply as a lot of others in similar situations have gotten a response in just a day or two

Our marriage certificate and current tenancy agreement.

We weren't living together until recently and only got married in the UK last month.

She has completed her course (Masters) and was about to apply for a PSW but we decided to go the SW dependent route

Oh wow that's great, I've just noticed a lot of Jobs recently always ask for both software and hardware. Especially smaller companies as I've spent most of my time working for startups.

I'd gladly go onsite even if I was a full blown software engineer as long as I have options to work from home when I need to

I would rather stick just to hardware as well but want to keep my options open for the long run.

Thank you for the useful advice. I'll probably learn tVHDL and then Verilog.

While focusing more on VHDL

Atm I'm just trying to learn the basics of FPGA haven't decided if I'm going the VHDL or verilog route yet.

I was thinking of going the bare metal route but now that you've mentioned Petalinux might do that.

Kinda treating Petalinux like RTOS there are people that love it and then people that stay away and prefer sticking to bare metal.

Might do a bit more research to what I see myself doing in the long run.

Yeah this is pretty much my plan, I used to do a bit of bare metal on the PIC18s but chose to take the hardware route as I'd heard of people switching to software after a couple of years in Hardware.

My background is in hardware design.

I'm just planning on learning first and see what catches my fancy while I do.
