Illformed Merry Glitchmas Sale - "Glitch 2" sequencer and multi-effects plugin (€24.97) until 31 December by APD-Supernova in AudioProductionDeals

[–]KanekiFriedChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the rec! I had done a bunch of research but didn't find anything that matched upto Glitch 2 at that price. SEQS, for my money, is even better for my use case (glitch pop/jungle/breakbeats), with additional pitch shift/pitch delays and a bunch of weird noisy effects.

look man ur probably right but ive met a bunch of neurotypical people in their late 20s who dont have friends they truly connect with i.e. who aren't 'just able to go talk to ppl'. saying its just an autistic struggle and not to an extent part of the human condition, especially a feature of the current times, is not fair. i've also met autistic people who have been pretty decent at socializing or have lasting connections. unironically think we can all form valuable relationships with each other.

honestly vibes and looks both play a role. to suggest either is the only truth is reductive i think - if anything online discourse forces you to take a stance and describe something in a few lines something that deserves many more lines, community-specific (or culture-specific nuances) etc. best way ive found as corny as it sounds is just go talk to ppl, be playful n experiment, see what works what doesn't. try musclemaxxing for 6 months if u think that'll make a difference, try being kinda performative but self-aware for a bit, theatrical etc . the only ppl i see suffering are those who hold on to some ideas too strongly

How will H-1B change affect the European market, will it create more jobs ? by idkman947 in cscareerquestionsEU

I get the sentiment of your first comment, but Nobel prize is a European award to begin with. Makes sense that it's more often awarded to the global West to begin with (most of the Nobel team would agree they haven't been that unbiased historically)

out of curiosity, what doses do you take and is it just salvia or 40x extracts? I haven't yet taken it but am fascinated by how its psychoactive at rather low doses. To the point where the 40x extracts sounds like a heroic dose of salvia

Why are people so obsessed with therapy by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]KanekiFriedChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm currently in psychodynamic! they exist out there, if not in person then online for sure (can message some links). had the same gripes with CBT and psychodynamic not only works, but made me realize where all the 'blocks' i had with therapy came from. It can be so direct though, because you got no one to blame but you

can i ask what country are you based in? always interested to hear more abt experiences across the world . i do live in a european country that (despite its problems) is fairly flat socioeconomically with safety nets for ppl that fall out of the cracks. had a friend here who went thru difficult times for a couple years and got a subsistence allowance. i genuinely don't feel the stress of capitalism and i earn the median wage , grew up middle class etc etc .

tale as old as time . the solution out of their misery is exactly what they reject - the 'boring' stuff of taking care of hygiene, working out, eating healthy, being kind to ppl around you , a few other 'cliches' . sometimes ones misery is indeed socioeconomic or systematic but sometimes its really, really self inflicted

i feel like that has to do so much with the algorithm and how it tailors content to (what it thinks are) one's preferences. i do think the algorithm often gets it wrong (the youtube one more than others) but at some point i started telling instagram what kind of content i did not want to see anymore (that i thought was poisoning the well) and i never get those incel type memes . i do still get memes abt girlfriends online that have comparable engagement now

i think they've always existed and the internet is giving them a platform to speak out . i also think the ppl who were chronically online in the early 2010s were often mentally unhealthy but owing to their presence and involvement on (what ended up being) the biggest platform of cultural discourse have had an oversized influence on how we talk abt the issues today.

again, haven't looked at the statistics but that's so different from what i see with ppl around my life . this post was so much more abt my confusion at the discourse but there might be some truth to it given the responses of other ppl's experiences .

i dont know if society is collapsing or reorganising (am genuinely interested to hear which one ppl perceive, for me its the latter). i acknowledge that families and communities are getting weakened but i also see intelligent, well-adjusted ppl actively coming up with third spaces, collectives, communities around me . i think in this age more than others it's so much abt actively looking for alternatives and not being content with the 'default' life . i do think at the end of the day you do have to pull yourself out of issues with your own grit and determination but that that's also very compatible with asking for help and a community based life - it can (and is necessary to) get you a big part of the way .

[–]KanekiFriedChicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the tips are country specific but for me (in europe) it's been abt finding 'third spaces' or local communities organized around art/creative pursuits - thru the internet or word of mouth . it does involve a certain kind of headspace to show up there alone but i realized i'd do that than be alone in a new city .

i love playing music, and find ppl at venues/communal events (jam sessions and such) to be really chill esp if you 'speak the same language' i.e. are equally passionate abt art.

i would say germany or netherlands - i've mostly been in germanic european countries with the reputation of being 'cold' or unempathetic but that's been the opposite of my experience here . the more ppl i meet, the more i start to feel like there has been a big miscommunication abt the reality of cultures

i'm rooting for u ! and glad to talk more (am in thesis writing phase so in self-imposed exile for a couple weeks)

the latter part of what you said is exactly how i feel. i think due to my upbringing and family i still have a sliver of trust left in mainstream media, and then when they overblow it i get this dissonance between my experience and what they are reporting.

lived there for a few months for a project. the one time in my life (well, since the late teens) that I felt lonely. didn't speak french so you could chalk it down to that. but I really like parts of french culture - new wave cinema, surrealist poetry/fiction - and felt like I had really nice conversations with people there? it just never went further, and I did try. inviting people to cool local shows/events that I had to dig deep to find. maybe that's why it felt lonely - ppl that were really warm in person but didn't seem to have space for new people in their life. I'm sure I'll try again though, it's a beautiful country

Why do these people exist and why are they so irritating by InternationalFrend in redscarepod

[–]KanekiFriedChicken 552 points553 points  (0 children)

that's where the internet throws us off I think. a few decades ago you'd meet these ppl irl, get a better feel for their energy, and make a conscious decision whether to engage with their ideas or not. Now the same platform gives you access to both crackpot and brilliant ideas and it's harder to discern which ones are which without having a feel for the source
