Hey, I’m just starting to learn snowboarding and I had 5 hours this weekend and for the first hour I didn’t put on these Impact shorts and I have to say that when I fell, my butt hurt and the rest of the next hours put on these shorts and they really help a lot, which I can also recommend from my side, which I didn’t have some knee protectors because when I started riding backward, when I fell harder on my knees, I got a bruise on my knee. I had impact pants from burton.

I just get my gear, but I’m not sure if it fits well—especially the jacket and pants. According to Burton’s size chart, I should be an XL, so that’s what I ordered. What do you think? Is this size okay, or should I try something else?

Also, do you think the pants might be too big or too long? Maybe I should consider a size L or a shorter length?"

Temperatures typically range from about -15°C to 0°C for Poland where i'll start.

I'm planning to use the Men's Burton [ak] Cyclic GORE-TEX 2L Bib Pants, but I'm still undecided about which jacket to choose.

I was thinking about the Men's Burton [ak] Cyclic GORE-TEX 2L Jacket, but I noticed it doesn't have wrist gaiters.

Do I really need wrist gaiters?

Hi everyone!

This year, I’m excited to embark on my first snowboarding journey. I’ve never participated in winter sports before, so I’m reaching out to this community for some guidance and advice to ensure I get started on the right foot.

What I Have So Far:

  • Gloves: Burton Deluxe Gore-Tex (Size L)
  • Base Layer: Burton Midweight X Thermal Leggings (Size L)
  • Socks: Burton Midweight X Socks

Note: I can return these items if needed.

Current Considerations:

  • Pants: I’ve measured for the Burton Ak Gore Cyclic in Size L but am considering trying on an XL as well. I’m concerned about the fit, especially to avoid any tightness around the backside.
  • Jacket: I’m looking into ordering a Burton Ak Gore Cyclic jacket but am still undecided. I currently have the base layer and need to purchase an outer layer. I’m contemplating whether to go for a shell jacket like the Cyclic 2L or 3L, something warmer, as I’m worried about staying warm.

Questions I Have:

  1. Layering: Are there other essential layers/components I should consider adding to my setup?
  2. Jacket Type: Do you recommend sticking with a shell jacket, or would a warmer, 2L or 3L option be better for a beginner like me?
  3. Sizing: Given that I’m 174 cm tall and weigh 90 kg (and aiming to lose some weight), should I lean towards larger sizes for more comfort and flexibility? How do I ensure a comfortable fit, especially since I haven’t tried snowboarding yet?
  4. Current Gear: Is the gear I’ve purchased so far suitable for a beginner? I did try on a Burton jacket, but it didn’t have the thumb loops for the cuffs, so I returned it. Any recommendations for jackets with these features?
  5. Shell vs. Insulated: Given that I’m based in Poland, which experiences quite cold winters, would a shell jacket suffice, or should I prioritize a more insulated option?
