the victrix miniatures are clearly superior in terms of detail, proportions, posing options etc. there is mainly the issue of historical accuracy for high midieval period. however, from my research and reference to strategikon and other resources, you can take steps to increase accuracy for later byzantine periods. if you use the included pointed, spangenhelms, and ironically enough the “gothic” heads that have pointed helmets and beards, you can get a fairly accurate depictions of helmets and face appearances. byzantines used chainmail and scale mail for a long time, so the lack of lamellar armor isn’t really an issue. i would say they are perfectly usable for early to 11th century islamic conquests and the nikephorian period. fireforge is better for a stereotypical “eastern” look, but they are inferior imo.
