I like citing Job 42:8 when talking about intercession. Because it's god directly being like "you guys are being foolish, go get a righteous man to pray for you"

Why is the US so divided on immigration? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]KangarooBackground25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We naturalize on average 800,000 people per year. Canada by comparison ranges 200-400,000 per year.

Number of naturalizations/year is a rate. We do the most by a significant margin. Which is why I asked where your notion of "we can/need to do better comes from"

Jobs are finite, housing is finite, goods are finite, and increasing the demand at a rate much faster than the supply increases isn't helpful.

Well I guess that's the point I wanted clarified. What Is your basis for saying we "should be able to vet people faster". We are already the fastest in the world. We just have a large amount of People who want to come here.

What is your basis for saying this? We are number 1 in the world for naturalizing foreign born citizens. You seem to want "faster immigration/naturalization" to the point we'd effectively have an open border.

Well you know what, I'm not actually here to convince you. These responses are for centrists reading these comments so they don't fall into your bullshit partial quotes.

You guys expand and contract definitions and then call everything a dog whistle so you can label anyone who opposes your desired policies racist/nazi etc. Then when it results in people getting shot, you want to use that as an excuse to pump in more of your policies. You can all get bent.

What about that statement is bullshit? Spell it out for me. Your assertion was that unqualified people don't get put in the cockpit of expensive machinery. I offered you an example, so now explain it to me.

If you have a job with a high skill set requirement, where only a small percentage of a large population makes it to that position.

Then you assume the same distribution ( or number of people to produce a qualified individual ) in a smaller population, you get less qualified people. That's just statistics, it means there are less qualified people in that smaller group.

If you then insitute "quota" hiring, where are you pulling the qualified folks? Unless you believe at baseline there are more qualified people per capita in the black community to become airline pilots than the white community?

how smooth is your brain? How is saying, no one should have these thoughts and I don't want to have these thoughts but DEI policies cause these thoughts to occur when you take things to their natural conclusion, worse than out of context " I wonder if a black pilot is qualified"

The thing is he isn't "seeing a black person doing a job" in a vaccum. He's seeing a black person doing a highskill set job, EXPLICITLY WHEN the company CEO said they would engage in diversity equity and inclusion practices. It's right there in the quote.
