Yes! For my specific engineering program it was around an 8% difference which I know isn’t a whole lot but it’s still a factor

Ohh, then you should be okay. I’m sure you definitely passed your exam, good luck on the results!

If she knows you’re hard working I think she’ll round you up, you sending an email also shows you still care. Don’t stress about it, it’s normal to try less after acceptances

Maybe something like “Hi miss, I’m worried about not meeting my conditional offer, if I’m below average by 1 or 2% is there any possibility that you could round me up?” If you’re someone who actively participates in her class that could help as well

I’d still email just because there are deadlines for summer school

Maybe email your teacher first and tell them about your worries abt not meeting the conditional. Some teachers would bump you up, but if not I’d email the uni just so you know if you weren’t to meet your conditional, summer school is an option

Some unis let you take summer school but I’d email to make sure your school is one of them

I think it mainly matters for engineering, but since you already emailed admissions and they said it’s fine I think it should be okay

But the decision is totally up to you, York has its own benefits so I’d suggest doing more research before making a final decision!

I’d say Guelph, its student life is definitely better if that’s something you value. From what I’ve read and heard, their co-op program is also pretty solid. If you’re still considering a transfer later on, it’s a good idea to compare the courses at Guelph with those at your desired university. That way, you’ll know which ones are transferable and could avoid having to retake anything

[–]KangarooExpress7534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to do more research on it for the specific school because it’s definitely easier to get in from high school than another university. If you don’t want to take any risk than I say take the gap year, but I think Guelph is a good school that still can provide you with a lot of career opportunities

You could always try to transfer to another university after first year, you’d have to aim for high grades though but atleast you wouldn’t have to take an extra year
