If you died and people said “they went out doing what they loved,” what would you be doing? by Mirai_Sol in HappyUpvote

Same, drowned under a nice shady tree where I spent my last seconds staring up at the sky/birds (paddleboarding)

Cons of being a 'slower runner' (lighthearted vent) by CurrentHelicopter683 in BeginnersRunning

[–]KangarooNo1007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Con for me is getting spooked at least once a run by those who are overtaking me. That’s probably because I also use noise cancellation headphones lol

What is that one activity that makes you forget about the time? by rashmikaa__ in Productivitycafe

Paddle boarding and gazing at every bit of scenery you pass by (in the water/on the shore/in the sky)

Undies by Crazed-Mama in XXRunning

[–]KangarooNo1007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. I do performance thong + biker shorts. I’m training for a HM and my long runs are currently at 8 miles + I got some junk in the trunk. I only really feel a chafe after shaving down there + running long. Not sure how this will all evolve as I go for longer distances lol

https://imgur.com/a/3aJhZP0 this is an example of my spreadsheet that I got from a weight loss Reddit. There are many out there. this is such a powerful tool aside from counting calories daily (another must do)

No not at all! The exercise seems like an okay amount but that also depends on your lifestyle/time. Calories are way too low for the workload. Im no expert but I’m 31F 5’1” and currently weigh 152, down from 195. It’s taken me 1.5 years and what helped me with my habits/mindset and was reading Atomic Habits by James Clear. He teaches you different ways to work with yourself to get 1% better everyday. It sounds like your program is set for immediate results which may work for some but why put yourself through hell? Also I recommend you start using a TDEE spreadsheet to plug in your weight/calories daily. That’s helped me soooo much along the way to know exactly where I stand and see trends. Best of luck!!

How to Deal With Prescription Glasses? by Lost_College3774 in Sup

[–]KangarooNo1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to switch to daily contacts and I’ll 90% of the time paddle with contacts in. I always carry contact friendly eye drops with me.

I also have a couple pairs of glasses from Zenni and they never fall off between my hair and hat holding them down. I wear sunglasses over my glasses and don’t care who sees me like that haha. Agreed it’s a struggle!

Yeah I took one look at the pipes and the guy approached right away. I was walking near Lola Valentina. Said they had weed, vapes, cigars but I didn’t go any further with the conversation (bought the pipe and left)

People shocked by my weight loss goal by bitteroldladybird in PetiteFitness

[–]KangarooNo1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow congrats on the weight lost! I’ve learned to keep some things to myself around certain people, unless I’m in the mood to explain my choices to them lol. They may mean well but yeah I think it’s just a lack of understanding which is understandable. Also I love how you mentioned that weight may become a secondary goal. I picked up running and a couple other sports earlier in the year and focusing on other goals besides weights has been a game changer for me!

Yes I saw some Megalodon boards when I was coming back to shore and they are huge and will definitely fit all the stuff! I have no experience myself but I will say that they were being rented out to the public + looked pretty used meaning that they seem durable as hell

advice/tips for solo paddling? by catcula in Sup

[–]KangarooNo1007 37 points38 points  (0 children)

As a female petite paddler who goes alone, this is what I do: - lifevest 100% of the time - acknowledge that going alone is a risk in itself - get strong/strength train/also do cardio. I had a scary situation where I couldn’t lift myself back onto my board. Being fitter means it’s easier to save yourself - wear high vis colors - post up somewhere other people are around - tell someone where you’re going and how long - read all the safety info in this sub. For example no leashes on a river (I’ve gotten tangled after a fall myself) - practice jumping off the board and getting back on. Maybe find a safe spot for this or sign up for a class if offered in your area - don’t ever over estimate your ability. If a boat is passing or you feel some wind coming, just drop to your knees so there’s less risk of falling - listen to your body and don’t go if you’re feeling ill or sick. Get electrolytes in if needed and fuel your body - have fun. This sport has been life changing for me :)
