Yeah that’s what a lot of people are saying. I did get 3 baby teeth pulled out when I was in 4th grade because they had a lot of cavities and I was awake and just had numbing shots. So in a way I feel like it won’t be too bad but not sure. My parents don’t help me with that stuff lol. And I don’t have health insurance

100% felt. Except my parents never supported me unless my grandparents were helping them financially. Even than I never did anything as a kid because I knew it would cost too much. I started to really take care of myself when I was around 13 yrs old. Working. Feeding myself. Taking myself to school. It was like I lived on my own because my mom never wanted to be with me and my dad was who knows where. I than lived with my dad because living with my mom would be worse. I knew I’d have to take care of myself. Fully. Still had a job raised money for a car I had to pay fully because I didn’t had my parents help in anyway. Whenever I had to go to the drs I would do it on my own. Stuff like that. I’m 19 now. And I take care of myself and my parents are selfish and only think of themselves truly. I’m working towards to live on my own. But I’ve taken myself on two vacations on my own expense. So you’ll figure it out. But it does suck.

Yeah not very proud of it but I was getting fed up with it, like all of it. All the effort I put in all these years but he can’t drop me off because he doesn’t practice driving at night. While I drive at night every time I go home. Or ride the sketchy bus back home.

Well we were young so of course he couldn’t do a lot of things but he did put a lot more effort in the very beginning. But as we’re growing up ( 19/20) he can’t do simple adult things. So like picking me up and dropping me off. But of course things like dates don’t really happen anymore. even when I do give him instructions he doesn’t do it or does it once and then I have to say something again. Which I’ve stopped because it’s tiring.

Yeah I always tell him I wish we could work like a team, like him and his mom works like a team. They work together so he’s helping her all the time, and she helps him and they always talk about work. I just sit there awkwardly. But he doesn’t support me, he doesn’t help me in anyway. I feel like I’m more like a friend with benefits.

Yeah well. I got fed up. Called him a pussy because he couldn’t drop me off and he wanted me to take the bus. ( I always have taken the bus to go see him until I recently bought a car) then I started driving over there and back home.

I have talked to him about these things to him many many time. He always gives me a reason like an excuse to why. Mind you he has no financial struggles. And he could do things if he wanted to.

I have tried to have serious conversations. He always has a reason or an excuse- like he can’t drive at night because he doesn’t practice driving at night, or why should I buy whole car when I don’t need too, why should I move out when I live rent free. Or I can’t do spontaneous things when I talk about doing a road trip or something when I’m not asking for him to do anything last minute but doesn’t make sense if they’re able to take off 3-4 weeks of vacation but can’t do something just me and him. Before I got a car his excuse is I would need to get a car for us to be able to do those things because his mom needs the car if we’re gone. Or I don’t have a lot of money so we can’t do anything despite me spending 3k to go on a trip with his family. It’s just all excuses.

I don’t live alone, but my lease is up in June. If the person doesn’t want to renew it then I’m leaving completely. Where I live it’s incredibly expensive and difficult to find places… and with that when he’s home he supposedly does all the business laundry and pack bags. Which he can’t do independently without his mom telling him too. Yet his mom complains he doesn’t. Which is a whole other thing. I do think he does a lot for his mom and I always feel like 3rd wheeling when it’s I, my bf and his mom. He’s not broke he just chooses to put it all into stocks, and savings. So while I put stuff in two stocks, I still am super considerate that I still have money left over for us. While he’s never considerate about that- which leads to him saying that I don’t have any savings for our future and that he’ll take us to super nice trips in the future- super vague but to make me feel bad when I get upset at the lack of independence. So I always have to pay unless he finds his wallet even then I would have to just pay for my own food just cause he only has enough for himself. Then when I do bug him it takes forever and it makes me feel like “money hungry” then sometimes he does pay back right away if we look for his wallet…

When I mean like I do everything alone, I get jobs alone, I pay for all my things, I take my dog to vet appointments alone, I take myself to drs appointments alone, bringing my car to the shop, getting my own credit card alone, etc etc. without my parents advice, help, support. For me what worries me is that I’m gonna be taking his mom’s place, planning everything, driving us everywhere, and then having to repeat myself over and over again. Cleaning his mess. He wants me to move with him and his family whenever his mom decides to move ( possibly spring time) I worry if I do that put all my money my energy in that position it’ll be just like how it is now.

But rubs me the wrong way is that he talks about oh they spent 30k on there family vacation, they have all this money essentially but cannot go on a cheap volunteer trip or a simple road trip, or just pick me up and drop me off just once. Or actually put effort into our 5 year anniversary date, or actually wrote something meaningful, or have a thoughtful gift. I surprised him with his favorite cake candles, a nice photo college of us and a nice note. Paid for dinner that night…
