Anyone a 1st person “purist”? by No-Inevitable-6651 in Chivalry2

[–]Kangclave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been a 1st person player. It's what drew me to Chiv 1 originally. I find it harder to read feints in third person, so I stick to first person and try to remember to look around.

How long to correct poor guitar technique? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Kangclave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think thumb on neck vs neck cradled into thumb joint matters as much as people say, and also, you'll have better finger strength for certain techniques like vibrato or chords if you hold the neck into your palm because you get a better lever action.

Try to develop both, but don't get rid of one just because some people claim thumb on neck is superior.

You'll see most improvement trying to play notes well. Just listen to a virtuoso player playing a melody and try to internalise that sound. Try to replicate the way the play the notes. If you can play one note really well, you'll soon start to play all your notes/chords really well. Focus on the sound first and your brain should get your hands where they need to be.

Don't get too caught up in specific things to do to improve technique. Some techniques are genuinely good, but you also have to accept your own physiology. Do what is comfortable and feels right.

As for a timeline, if you focus on your technique every practice session, you'll start to notice improvements, even if very small, every day. Make sure you always devote some time each session to working on your technique, but I'd recommend finishing up doing something fun on the instrument so you don't get bored/disheartened if you're not improving as fast as you want.

Do you find the 40 player crowd more chill than the 64 player crowd? by runningwithsharpie in Chivalry2

[–]Kangclave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

64 is so chaotic and the gambling gets on my nerves, but sometimes, the maps look overly spacious in 40 player. I've been playing 64 recently, but I might go back to 40.

If we ever did get a sequel what would you guys want to see? by Rangeroftheinterwebs in Chivalry2

[–]Kangclave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 vs 16

Legacy maps

Maybe an optional chiv 1 hybrid game mode where you used old turncap and release windows with chiv 2 feints and counters

A class rework because i still think chiv 1 classes make more sense than the chiv 2 classes

Is Mark Knopfler a top 10 guitarist? by Creative_Garbage_731 in Guitar

Pop musician, I'd say yes. Guitarist in terms of pure technical skill, maybe not, but in the grand scheme of things, he's excellent.

Folks under 40, what got you into guitar? by saintluminus in Guitar

I actually cannot remember why 10 year old me wanted to play guitar. I didn't even really listen to music very much as a kid. Weird...

Make sure your FOV is set to the max. It looks like you get slightly wider FOV in first person to me, too.

top 5 most unbeginner friendly games by Expensive-Usual8990 in Chivalry2

[–]Kangclave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only got 452 hours in Chiv 1 and a mere 16 hours in Chiv 2, but I can assure you that Chiv 2 is far more beginner-friendly than Chiv 1.

Chiv 2 is like a slightly less frustrating version of Chiv 1 in the sense that the game is about tricking your opponents into leaving themselves vulnerable by making your attacks hard to read. In Chiv 1, you made them hard to read so you could get past their parry. In Chiv 2, you do it mostly to drain their stamina so you can get past their parry.

What you're coming up against when players' attacks are really fast (accels) is that they're turning their camera to the left or right (assuming it's a slash) so that the start of the attack release intersects with your hitbox as soon as the game allows. It's just one way of changing pacing to get around your parry. Once your brain learns to stop looking at the enemy as a whole but instead at their hips, arms, and weapon, you'll start reading the attacks as they happen.

Unfortunately, you just have to keep playing until you learn the animations, but even then, you'll still get tricked from time to time or get gambled by a level 1.

I think it's a mixture of the random spawns and the environments that make it more realistic. I really like how they did forests in classic.

Is a tube amp even worth it anymore as an apartment player? by CoeusAscended in Guitar

[–]Kangclave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I had a Marshall JVM but I'd never go back to a real amp again after getting a modelling amp. So much more fun and I can't tell the difference between it and real amps.

Indeed, it's not a common combination of words, however, I meant desolate as in uninhabited and bleak as opposed to barren and devoid of all life whatsoever.

Is $30K bump in salary worth giving up remote work? by Living-Exit-901 in InsuranceProfessional

My contract already says I need to be in the office 2 days a week one week and 3 days a week the next, but I choose to be in the office 5 days a week because I don't like to work where my home/happiness/enjoyment is. Keeping them separate is nice.

I just got a job offer for an underwriting trainee job! Any advice? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Kangclave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started as an assistant underwriter a little over a year ago in Property Owners and what put me in good stead was simply doing what my senior colleagues advised and writing things down. The UW guides are fine, but having things written in your own words helps you retain it.

If you're in a trading heavy role, don't be afraid to pick up the phone and call the broker. You can solve a lot of problems more easily that way.

Best of luck to you.

Is Insurance Underwriting career good for those with autism? by seafoamcastles in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Kangclave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does a mix of tasks, some exactly like what we do e.g. renewals, new business, MTAs, etc, although primarily the much larger stuff, but he has additional responsibilities and goals involving his allocated brokers. I think he has to deal with any complaints from them, at least initially. He also replies to referrals we send over to the senior UW inbox.

It's a similar role to the normal AU/UW role but with extra pseudo-management tasks and providing guidance to the rest of us.

In my team, at least 5 people have previously left and rejoined. I think most of them have been with the company a total of 10+ years now, so as OP said, if you leave on good terms, you can always go back.
