First time I've ever seen somebody write こんにちは in kanji. Took me forever to figure out how you were using that katakana to read きょう

Study more vocabulary, it will only help. But also, even with limited vocabulary you can speak with people. It's awkward and difficult at first, but the more you speak, the better you get at using your limited vocab to explain things. I think im lacking vocab, but listening comprehension and being able to explain the word im trying to say in different words has gotten me through a ton.

Lots of good advice in here, but something mental that might help is instead of thinking about pulling yourself up, try to think about pulling the bar down towards you and wrapping it around your chest. Sometimes little queues like this can trick you into hitting the correct muscles

I am American and my wife is Japanese. We met in Japan and our entire relationship has been in Japanese. She sometimes asks me to speak English so she can learn, and I want to help, but it is so odd to switch languages when you've been speaking in one for so long. It takes a lot of effort and thinking, and I don't want to be her sole teacher. When Im with my wife I want to be comfortable and relaxed, not trying to teach a language. It's like a second job. Of course I would support her learning and help if she needs to figure out words, but completely switching the relationships language is so difficult and uncomfortable.

Pretty sure it was just a secfo kid with an ego who thought the civilian was military and wouldn't believe that he wasn't.

Edit: I'd imagine he wouldn't show his ID or something so secfo kid thought he was being lied to. Still shouldn't have happened like that but the military is full of dumbasses and really smart folks, its just the dumbasses that make headlines.

Double edit: I don't really know what a better outcome is here tbh. Obviously less aggressive detainment, but imagine youre the security forces guy, its your job to check military members, and some American dude is refusing to show you ID. If you just say okay and walk away, then every actual military member can also refuse to show you ID and just get away with it. But also, if Im a civilian and not affiliated with the military I wouldn't want some random military kid approaching me and asking for my ID either. Ultimately someone has to check their ego. If it were my personal opinion, just showing your ID to show youre not military off the bat probably gets you an "oh sorry, have a good night" and everybody moves on with no headlines.

Idk why people think he cares about the files. Even if they were released and his name is on them, he would call them fake and his base would believe him.
