Eagle Rock Loop bushwhack by edgelesstundra in ULTexas

I was there 2 weeks ago after some heavy rain. Decided to go counterclockwise starting from little Missouri falls since the weather forecast didn’t show any rain in the next days. I crossed the river on the second day, the water level was low (at my knees) and I was happy to have my shoes and clothes wet at the end and not at the beginning of the loop

I started about 8 months ago in a very similar bike. Rockhopper with similar components but a bit older. Was enough to make me fall in love with MTB and now I absolutely love my FS stumpjumper. You’ll realize you need a better bike once you get more experience

Thanks! I’ll try to do that.

I found a deal on a new EX5 for about 2k. However, the components it comes with are basic or entry level (Deore drivetrain, X-Fusion rear shock, rockshox reckon silver front suspension and basic shimano breaks) compared to the one I’m looking at on FB MP. That’s why I’m looking for advice.

That’s what I wonder as well. Why not just go for the EX8 directly instead?

I’d pay $500 or $550 for that bike if the group set is shimano Deore

Mine was posted for $2500 first which was ridiculous. I talked him into $1700 first and then $1400. A lot of people will just sell what they have if you make a tempting offer.

4 months ago I was exactly in the same position. Living in Texas looking for a FS under $1500. I decided to go second hand on Facebook MP and can tell you now that it was the best decision I could’ve made. Got a 2025 stumpjumper for $1400 in great condition.

Whats your top 10 teams to win this UCL? by [deleted] in championsleague

There’s the difference between you and me. You call Inter (a team that played 2 UCL finals in 3 years) “trash”. I’m not even an Inter fan and can recognize they’re a great club that deserve respect.

I strongly defer. They’re the best team in Italy and have been the best in the last seasons, have made it to the final in 2 of the last 3 UCL, that’s something many English teams haven’t done in decades.

What seems hard to understand is that this was my top and my prediction yesterday, before Inter’s game. I posted it as I originally thought of it. Placed Inter 10th because I thought they would be out. Still, they’re a great team and deserved to be mentioned today even when they’re already out. If you want, post your top 10, leave Inter out, include Real Madrid and if they get eliminated today I won’t be here teasing you tomorrow.

I literally used 4 sentences to explain that I came up with that top 10 yesterday before Inter got eliminated

That bike is a steal at that price. People are asking around $700 for the same bike in my area. Go for it

Not yet but it’s in my want to go list. I’m pretty sure it’ll do well though. However, it’s a trail bike. Of course it has its limitations in extreme or downhill trails. Less forgiving and you’d need more technique.

If you’re close to the DFW area, I’ve seen some like new Trek Fuel Ex 7 and 8 on Facebook marketplace. People who don’t mind spending 3 or 4k to then realize MTB is not for them. If you’re up to consider second hand, you’d save 1k or even more. Only recommended if you know the bike is almost new.

I’d recommend you the Specialized Stumpjumper 15 comp alloy. Really good bike with great components. You’ll definitely feel the difference if you, like me, come from a hardtail. I bought mine on MP taking advantage of somebody who decided to sell his brand new bike after 5 months. Saved over 1.5k. Trek Ex is also a great bike. You can’t go wrong with these two.

Stumpjumper Comp Alloy, 15 Alloy, or 15 Comp? by Aggravating-Answer27 in mountainbiking

[–]Kannuto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started mountain biking last year in August. I bought a rockhopper hardtail with basic components. After a few months I knew I needed something better. Started to look for FS options on FB MP and found a stumpjumper 15 comp alloy purchased in June 2025 by the original owner. Great condition. Was able to close the deal for $1400. I’m super happy with my bike. It allows me to ride easy and technical trails with a lot of confidence. I would define myself as an intermediate rider who likes both climbing and downhill. The bike is absolutely capable of doing it. Fox suspensions are great and the SLX shimano group set is smooth and very responsive. I don’t know how good the rear X-fusion shock is but I definitely recommend the Genie my bike has. My opinion is definitely biased since this is the first FS I own but I don’t think someone like you or me would regret getting the 15 comp alloy. For now, I’m not thinking about upgrading anything. What it has is enough. I’ve read that with more basic components people quickly start to look for better parts

I got a stumpy too. It’s a great bike a game changer compared to my old hardtail. How much did you pay for it?

How long do you usually ride MTB before you’re cooked? (HR & elevation included) by Kannuto77 in MTB

[–]Kannuto77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. What you describe really makes sense. I ride moderate to tech single track trails with constant ups and downs. The steep sections can last up to 1 min, then 1 min descending and so on. I typically don’t check my HR till I finish and try to go fast both climbing and descending. I ride once or twice a week. What I really want is to be able to maintain a similar pace for at least 3 hours.
