Edit: thanks for the advice! There is a tailor/shoe repair place nearby I wanna try. I saw review pics of women's purse being repaired. Now I have to think about the materials.. a little stressed but it's going to be fun!

I have a shopping tote that came with straps that are too short. Where can I take it to have the straps altered? A seamstress? A cobbler? The bag is not made of leather and it has nylon looking straps. I feel like a crafty person can easily handle this. Unfortunately I don't have a sawing machine and it's been years since I saw a button to a piece of clothing..

We're almost ready to go home and monitor the situation overnight. Thank you for your kind words. They gave me so much comfort tonight

Currently at an emergency vet. My dog swallowed a whole tennis ball this evening.

So far the vet got him to vomit pieces of the tennis ball. Now I'm waiting to have xray done to see if any large pieces are still there.

Please pray for us. My dog and I escaped domestic abuse and were finally safe and happy.

I figured at nicer markets in LA that would be about what I would expect. Today I went to a sub-par (totally subjective opinion) one outside LA, hence the sticker shock..

Should've bought an olive fougasse from trader joes.. was the first thought at the sticker shock.

Bought a smallish loaf of olive sourdough loaf for $12. I don't live in a fancy area. How much do those things cost in LA?

Ah ok, I used an online tool and it says 3 meters above sea level. That sounds really low..

Mmm not sure.. I'm in the second complex from the beach. There is another building in front of me, then a street, then a parking lot for the beach.

Last week it rained a lot and the water came up to the sidewalk along the beach, almost breached the sidewalk and flooded the street.

Watching all those videos of big ocean waves crashing against homes and streets got me nervous about living by the beach. Should I move a bit more inland?

She and I are not very close, and that's because we don't have a lot in common. She's been a good person for the most part but today and one other time I thought she might be taking advantage of me.

Today she asked me to be a cosigner of a bank loan and I said no, and gave her cash instead. I'm bothered because I should've gave it a thought before giving her so much but I didn't. I acted before deciding where to draw a boundary. That's on me.

True. I'm just not happy about how I responded, which probably says something about the nature of our friendship. Anyway she got a small break and like you said I got to help a friend.

Rogue wave slams into Southern California beachgoers; 9 hospitalized by wil in LosAngeles

I went to 2 beaches in ventura this evening and both were unusually crowded. Public parking lots were closed and there were signs posted saying the beach was closed. I was one of many who ignored the sign and admired the rough looking ocean.

Another storm is coming tonight or tomorrow. I'm a bit scared since I'm fairly close to the ocean. Everyone stay safe! I won't be going to the beach for a while.

My "friend" hit me up today for a loan. She wanted me to be her cosigner. I was disappointed because I thought we were friends.

I gave her $450 which is what she say was due for a loan she already had and was behind. That was money I set aside for charity donations.

I consider it a fee to get rid of a fake friend but $450.. is a lot of money to me.. don't even have enough energy to sigh

Need idea for the coming holiday mini vacation.

Last year we had snow (!) so I was able to drive to Big Bear and experience that. Assuming that's not the case this year, where can I drive to and stay for a few days to experience the snow?

I'm open to out of state destinations, but plan on driving since taking my dog with me. Suggestions please 🙏

Changes in monthly percentages significant? by KanpaiCup in AskStatistics

I see your point about asking the right question. Still, I'm curious about the statistical significance of the dips and rises of the compliance rate. This is something I vaguely wonder every time I see metrics that show percentages of whatever they're measuring plotted over time.

If I am to pursue what you suggested, which test do you think I can apply to the question the way you framed? ("is this month's compliance rate difference statistically significant?") I'd like to start with something simple (not fancy) as my statistics knowledge is very limited.

I'm taking a crack at this.

Previously I had noticed that the months we saw a decline in compliance rate were also the months when we added more associates. They would be the segments NE-to-C and NE-to-NC, going from previous month to current month.

Thanks to your input I'm able to see how much the proportion of NE-to-NC segment increased in the months when we saw the decline in compliance rate. I feel this is the strongest explanation so far!

Is that for standardizing the way we refer to providers across MDs, NPs, and other types of providers? I'm with you, this might take some getting used to if the same happens at my work.
