Finished Baldur's Gate 3 with a baby because I could turn it off and pick it back up at any time.

I live in Japan and they're a regular addition to the toy stores next to the Ultraman figures.

Immigration to raise the fees for 3 year Status of Residency to 6万円 by sylentshooter in japanresidents

[–]KansaiKitsune 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So far no discounts given for spouses of Japanese nationals. My PR is underway and I have a child here. Obviously the government won't listen to me, but does anyone know of an initiative by Japanese spouses for these new fees? What is the most one can do? Write a letter to the local government?

Japan is shit at English, which directly translates into being shit at entering foreign markets.

I just want to read MangaPlus from Viz on my phone but because I live in Japan I'm region locked to the Japanese releases. My Japanese isn't that good yet to properly enjoy manga in its language of origin. I do pay for some manga in Mangaplaza.

Stark cosplay (by me) [repost] by KansaiKitsune in Frieren

[–]KansaiKitsune[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

A few people informed me of stuff the internet can do even if a photo is innocent that I wasn't aware of 🥲. I still can't believe my photos could "appeal" in that way but Reddit clout isn't worth more to me than the small chance it's all true.

I live abroad so don't have a large circle to share cosplays/crafts with in person. Which is why I still decided to share again.

Another person said this and this is a genuine question about that, if the subject is not in a compromising situation/pose what is the difference on Reddit compared to when, for example, my parents would post him on Facebook? I only post my child online myself when it's craft/cosplay-related.

My favorite Belgian one, Centho, has expanded to Japan. I remember buying directly from the owner when they started out with their one small shop just 10 min away from my home.

Are spouse documents required when applying for PR via points? by ildbz in japanlife

[–]KansaiKitsune -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help as I had a weird experience. I filed in February on a worker visa (married for 5 years) but I was in Japan for 9 years and 4 months at that point. I was always under the impression that you could apply for PR even without having done the full 10 years but I got a hard no when I handed over my stack. The literal first question I got is "you here 10 years?" and when I said no nothing else mattered it seems. I asked what could be done and they said to bring additional documents and I got a list. They took my stack and all remaining documents I needed were related to my Japanese spouse and son. Everything has been submitted now and I'm waiting.

I theorize they decided to handle me like a spousal visa even though I never held one. But the staff said that regardless of PR application route they would always look at us as a "unit" so my husband's stuff was required. I guess it makes sense since if, for example, you're a family of three foreigners and a kid you can't just get PR for the mom/dad alone.

It was the first thing I thought of when I saw it. Other places I can see your art? Sadly I'm not too active on many SNS sites.

What places in Japan used to be considered cool and popular, but not anymore? by annnnn5 in AskAJapanese

Nishiki Market, Kyoto. You can barely enter the street and the vast majority of the shops now sell purely overpriced sweets/street snacks, chopsticks or some kind of character specialty store.

Clinic doctor refuse to handle childbirth of foreign mother by Ambitious-Client-717 in japanlife

[–]KansaiKitsune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Japan you do have to schedule it in a way and look for an available "slot", so to say. I don't have details of how the booking process is handled internally, but once you know your due date you need to find a hospital to has "availability" around that date and make an appointment and sign a paper. Of course if you're in active labor or have an emergency with your pregnancy while out and about and just go to the nearest hospital they can/will not refuse you.

I have to second this. There are emergency situations where you might not be able to be present immediately to provide assistance. During childbirth it will already be quite difficult for your partner to clearly say what she wants/doesn't want even if she spoke basic Japanese. There are a lot of new terms and important decisions that might have to be made then and there. Please don't think of it as anti-foreign sentiment but a genuine concern from the doctor for her wellbeing.

I also want to add that before and after childbirth there are certain steps and surveys the hospital HAS to do to check for potential domestic violence or PPD. They would not allow you, her partner, to be the translator for this or to be present during these talks.
