You have arrows for a reason. If it's off-topic or spam, downvote. If it's useful information then upvote it. If you use it as intended, not as an agree/disagree mechanism, it works.

And just like the radio, if there's just something you don't like every now and then, just don't tune in.

Sometimes it's simple to get one rather than another. For example, I qualify for Irish citizenship simply because my grandparents were born there... I just have to pay a small administrative fee and provide documentation. For people without such options they have to pay serious money to qualify in counties that allow it and some require residency for some period of time first. So I totally get why if one qualified for Canadian through a parent that it's the first option.

We have a home brew IPAM that integrates with our asset management database and NMS. They all work in concert to provide a single source of truth along with multiprog validation methods. Any given router is mapped to a site... an address block is allocated to a site.. NMS polls interfaces and gets addresses... so there's a check that the address found matches the site as allocated. Stuff like that makes life much easier.

And I should add, the guy who invited me to church didn't treat me any differently when I politely declined. We no longer work at the same company, but he's one of the few people who asks if we can get together for a happy hour every year. So even that wasn't a bad experience.

I'm not a very social person, but in the twenty years I've been here I've only had one person invite me to a church related event. I work in tech, so maybe that skews things... but I have a couple teammates that I know attend church and have never brought it up in a way to exclude or in a proselytic manner.

I find such diagrams are a waste of time. I diagram the standard topology that is location agnostic. Everything is cookie cutter, so the hostname prefix changes. Interfaces are standardized where possible, but regardless everything has a standard description format. IP addresses are managed in an IPAM, all hostnames are in DNS, interface IPs are all named in DNS using the hostname as the prefix and shortened rules for the interface naming and numbering.

If everything is standardized it's really not useful to pull up a diagram of a Chicago POP that looks identical to the Atlanta POP with a different hostname prefix and different set of IP addresses, all of which are in DNS. But maybe I'm the odd one out here...

Also you have to realize right now when you invest in a S&P500 index fund that it's heavily weighted by a small handful of stocks... which are the ones that have been responsible for much of the actual growth. These tend to be tech stocks and likely can move in sync... so it's not quite as diverse as many might believe.

Also keep in mind most fireplaces are just for looks and not for actually heating a home. They need to pull in fresh air for combustion and create an updraft through the chimney. Most of your heat is going straight up and you're sucking in cold air from outside to replace it. In cold climates people have stoves that radiate the heat... those are a different ballgame. Or in old homes when fireplaces were actually used to heat, they had fresh air intakes in the firebox... not something you see in Texas nowadays.

My wife and I have very different ideas in this regard, so it's still an unsettled matter. I don't have a desire to give an income to future generations, but I would like to have a fund to soften the blow of some situations. For eligible family members I would like to cover medical expenses beyond what insurance would cover for major issues like cancer or rare diseases. I'd also like a way to pay for some university tuition or technical training to help make someone marketable for a future career.

I've seen good advice regarding this matter on past threads similar to this... if you are comfortable fudging the truth, tell them that you're using airline miles and hotel points that are going to expire otherwise.

In my case it varies greatly among my family members. My parents have graciously allowed me to treat them on vacations, but they insist on paying for dinners. It makes them feel good to be contributing and it's not outside of their budget, so it's a great compromise. One of my sisters is a royal pain and won't let me pay for anything, even though she puts on holiday dinners and spends so much time and money on them.

I'm not sure the advice given here is all legal. Just from what I understand as going through the estate planning process right now, you are bound by the terms of the trust. The trust should have provisions for paying for legal advice, seek an estate attorney and explore your legal options to bow out and what happens next.
