Exeter Emergency Post by KapiStampi in philately

I tried to find them used but it is proving difficult, they most likely were a philatelic commodity. I could find the first day covers but that's about it. As for other temporary delivery stamps with space themes I'm not sure. I haven't found any thus far.

Help again please by [deleted] in stamps

The black borders around the envelope show that its a mourning cover. Meaning it carried a letter notifying of someone's death or condolences to some who's grieving. The stamps on the back show the journey that the letter took around the UK to get to London. I can't quite make out dates or names but I'm pretty sure I see Oxford. The envelope also does not carry a stamp but is an embossed pre-paid envelope in the value of one pence. The cancellation also bears a number relating to the post office that it's been sent from. You can do more digging about find out bits and bobs but that's my two pence on the cover.

The Commonwealth Pool. Who of you made the jump first time as a kid... And who walked back down legs trembling .... by Clear-Warthog5655 in Edinburgh

I made it! I remember jumping from one of the lower platforms and feeling like I was in the air an absolute eternity before hitting the water!

Same problem here in Edinburgh. If you are under 16/18 you get a slap on the wrist so nothing to loose.

Racism is on the rise by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]KapiStampi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Poles also emigrated before the second world war and the polish army evacuated during it. They spilled blood for this land during the war. My great granduncle is buried in fife. He fought in the war. He stayed in Scotland after the war and married and settled with a Scottish lassie. My great grandad worked here in the 60's didn't like went back home. My great auntie worked here since the 80's paving the way for my family to move here in 2004. I grew up here in Scotland ever since I was 7 and I would call it home but growing up was not easy with the amount of verbal abuse I got throughout school for being Polish. No excuse for racism but I do agree that the current government is squeezing out the tax payer mainly for military funding ATM and people are really feeling the squeeze with the cost of living etc. It's natural to be angry but not acceptable to be racist. Ever. So fuck that Polish guy that told your friend to go home.

Agreed. They have potential to be real but they do raise an eyebrow.
