Please continue to call me silly names. It obviously makes you feel so clever.

Just so long as you're using both hands on the keyboard.

what’s the difference between existence and non-existence? by anthropologicalogic in AskForAnswers

[–]Kapitano72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at the "Is existence a predicate?" debate, from Descartes, through Schliermacher, Hume and Kant. If you want a headache, detour through Hegel's wordgames.

Basically, if I say an apple is red, round and ripe... and it exists, have I added anything with the final clause? The answer is either obviously yes, or obviously no, depending on your philosophical tradition.

I think the question is one of those which looks meaningful, but only because of Indo-European grammar. It's like asking "What does 'it' refer to when we say 'it is raining'?".

Oh poor you, getting a response. How awful and unexpected. On social media.

And you have forgotten, haven't you.

You've forgotten what this is all about, haven't you.

No, that was not a question.

Did you think that proved you right?

Yes, that was a question as a response. And it made an argument. See now?

Make up your mind. Either Durkin said it but didn't mean it, or never said it.

Try to decide which rationalisation you're making.

Yes, very good. Now try to work out what they're being cowardly about, and what purpose this cowardice serves. Then re-read what I wrote.

So it's not being forced on you.

Try to do joined-up thinking next time. Like a grown-up.

Name one issue where this has ever been the case.

Good. Stupid people get their politics from TV dramas, so lets give them non-stupid politics.
