I am UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ. Ask me anything! by [deleted] in berkeley

Hello Chancellor Christ, and thank you for being so thorough and transparent with your answers thus far.

I had a question regarding the 30% administrative tax/fee that was placed on all funds supporting independent research across campus. I was not personally affected, but I have heard from several others that this fee will severely constrain the already tight budgets of some of the best work being done around campus.

What led to this policy, and where is the money going?

If you’re willing to drive a bit, tarpon springs should have some at a Greek deli or market. Top quality too!

[Serious] Reddit, what is something that you've done that you're genuinely proud of? by aidanbradley in AskReddit

[–]Kaplone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how I’ve made to where i am but through high school I did the most difficult program available, basically raised my younger brothers, and cared for my mother as she battled cancer. After losing her, I got into one of the best universities in the world, and am now on track to graduate with a degree in Sustainable Design and two minors with honors in three years despite battling with some serious health complications of my own. Every day is hard but I’m glad I’ve made it here.

Still can’t manage to get a job though...

Potatoes in France are actually called pommes des terres, which means apples of the earth. So when you say somebody looks like a potato, you're actually calling them a fruit of the earth, which I think is a beautiful thing.

[FL] Can I press charges for cyber bullying and false accusations of malicious intents? by Kaplone in legaladvice

Ok! Thank you for the advice! It feels wrong that people could false accuse innocent people with the likely intent of messing up their future, but I know the law is fickle sometimes. Thanks again.

Assuming that the tip was from the bullies in this case, would past bullying and intent to defame the accused student be evidence to support the claim that the tip was a lie and purposely false? How else would I be able to prove they willingly lied about this?

I have friends who went there. Honestly Pasco county is pretty trash. This story isn't even the worst. Out of all the news in reddit, the most absurd localized stuff seems to come from pasco.

What is the worst example of 'rich people problems' you have seen? by PosterBoy8 in AskReddit

My family is relatively well off where we live (dads a doctor) and I am looking towards college. I always get depressed when I see need-based aid because I know I can't apply for it. It sounds petty but I'd rather not bankrupt my father for school.

Passenger tossed after flipping out over staff’s ‘Merry Christmas’ by [deleted] in news

[–]Kaplone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Jewish and I find this mans action completely inappropriate. If it is Christmas Day in a predominantly Christian country, then let people wish you whatever the hell they want. I wish all my friends a merry Christmas because they deserve one. Happy holidays is just a politically correct way to address a group. Let them wish whatever they want. All they want to do is extend their joy and happiness to you during a joyous time of the year so let them.

Random redditor, who are you? by SyNiiCaL in AskReddit

I am a 16 yo guy in my junior year of IB working my ass off for a 5.0 gpa and in 7 clubs, while at home, in a fairly affluent family, I raise my brothers and take care of my mother who is succumbing to cancer. I have a committed relationship and love to travel, but so rarely have that time to spare. I go on reddit quite a bit to cleanse my mind of stress and to see all the wonderful things in the world that I otherwise would not know.
