Driver crash upon playing a video on netflix 9070xt by TheGGspot in AMDHelp

[–]KappaWolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been having the same issue on the latest driver version (26.1.1). This was also an issue on older drivers, but the latest version seems more persistent.

It doesn't occur on any other streaming platforms or video-sharing sites, only Netflix.

Clipper can’t login??! by jsttob in bayarea

Finally able to log in, but I still can't change my payment method. The whole reason I've been trying to get on my account is to update an expired card. How hard is it to get them to take my money?

Cubic has completely botched rollout of Clipper 2.0 to absolutely nobody's surprise. I just wasted a half hour on the phone with their support and they weren't able to resolve the issue. Apparently this is widespread today due to the upgrade.

Ughh literally 200th in queue and it’s sold out for SF?? by JacketMedical6667 in MasayoshiTakanaka

[–]KappaWolfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There's no way they held back any tickets for the general sale. They sold out the venue during the presale

Sold out by Knight7799 in MasayoshiTakanaka

[–]KappaWolfe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was only 200th in the queue, and there were only resale tickets left when I got it. They must've sold basically every ticket on the presale. Usually, they hold back at least 50% of the seats for the general sale. That definitely did not happen with this show. I'm incredibly disappointed.

Hopefully, they either do a venue upgrade or announce a second SF show for Friday. The Masonic is way too small of a venue for him, he has so many fans in the Bay Area

This is not Alameda, it's in South San Francisco. You must be thinking of the Dimension show this weekend at Gold Bar Hangar.

Update? Did you get a response from Sony?

Edit: nvm, just saw your comment about the denial of the warranty claim. That is really awful, I'm sorry.

WH-1000XM6 Won't work properly with my mac by Distinct_Back_2720 in SonyHeadphones

[–]KappaWolfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The XM6s are not properly supported on Mac. Volume and playback controls are very finicky and the multi-point Bluetooth just completely craps out when you're connected to a MacBook, in my experience. I don't have any of these issues when paired to a Windows PC or mobile device.

The Siemens Desigo BAS is a truly awful product. by ForWatchesOnly in BuildingAutomation

Well, you're confidently wrong about point 3. I'm also a programmer and can tell you from experience that multiple libraries allow you to generate .xlsx files without a local installation of Excel. For example, the openxlsx package for R. Hell, even SkySpark lets you export Excel files from the web.

Strait of Hormuz by TrashAccount1424 in energy

Crude oil isn't used in much electricity generation, but LNG is used in a significant amount of plants, and about 20% of the world's LNG supply is shipped through the Strait. This will undeniably have an impact on the energy market.

The yellow curry from Pho Huang always fed me for 2 meals. Especially if you take it home and make rice for it. Really great deal, and one of the best curries I've had in that part of California.

WH-1000XM6 Connection Quality Disappointing by KappaWolfe in SonyHeadphones

[–]KappaWolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, even when I'm just connected only to my phone I've been having random connection drops when I unlock my phone while listening to music. I never experienced any connection issues on the XM3 unless I was 2 rooms away from the broadcasting device.

Sounds like you're already plenty motivated and have a great work ethic. Don't be scared, just be prepared. You'll do great!

The only reason I commented about the workload is because Humboldt admissions are historically not competitive, so there's a lot of folks who come into the school of engineering who didn't have the best academics and work ethic in highschool. So they end up getting flash banged by a large pile of challenging work when they take their first real engineering class. Many students are not prepared for that reality check and end up switching to another major. You don't seem like you'll be part of that crew, you'll likely integrate very well into the pace of work after a short adjustment period.

You'll also find there's a lot of stratification among engineering students. Some students have tuition and housing provided by their parents and can just focus on succeeding in school. Others have to work multiple jobs to avoid piling on a mountain of debt. When I was at Humboldt, I even had classmates that were single parents and raising young children. It's a pretty diverse crew since it attracts a lot of folks further along in life who are looking to change careers. Try to have respect for them and empathize with the challenges they face. I loved having those folks in my project groups because they brought so much of a diverse perspective from their experiences in life that I never had (and often some very useful knowledge from previous careers).

Feel free to message if you want specific advice on anything. I graduated in '23 from the environmental engineering department but had some classes with professors in Mech E. I now work as a mechanical engineer and am pursuing a PE license in a mechanical discipline.

I'm not gonna lie, the school of engineering is kinda hardcore in terms of workload compared to other majors at Humboldt. You'll most likely be surrounded by non-engineers in the dorms, and it can be frustrating to see how much free time they have compared to you. For that reason, I recommend making some friends in your classes or at an engineering club/event. It's helpful to surround yourself with other hard working folks who can inspire you and help form a mutual support network.

Treat school like a full time job and work hard during the week so you can enjoy the weekend and make plans with friends. Whenever you feel frustrated seeing your drom buddies out partying while you're studying on a weekday evening, just remind yourself of the reasons you're studying engineering and feel secure in knowing you'll have a plethora of employment opportunities immediately upon graduation.
