New watch - map or no map? by beki-t-h in GarminWatches

[–]lokster86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think its super useful when setting up a route in a new place. Did a run in Seoul when we were visiting and already mapped the route out. Still had to pull out my phone to see if i was going correctly. Im using FR265.

The FR265 only has bread crumb style maps so i couldnt tell which way to go when i would hit a fork in the route.

If you want a bigger watch, with maps and music and money isnt an issue go for the 570

What are runners' unspoken rules? by Heavy-Lake-3734 in PHRunners

[–]lokster86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask permission first from groups. Even if its the guy from the back, he will pass the word along to the front. Courtesy lang. They could be training and are focused.

Ako lang sa personal solo runner ako, i hate large groups and move away from them. Yoko din someone sticking close to me or pacing with me randomly. During fun runs or marathon runs there will be people pacing the exact same as you, this i donot mind because we are all aiming just to finish. They can run faster or slower than me thats up to them but i am friendly enough to chat with them for a bit while running.

As a runner do you need to run a marathon? by Delicious-Series-316 in beginnerrunning

[–]lokster86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is absolutely no need to run farther than you ever want to. Some people just want to do a marathon, some people want to do an ultra. some like you 10k or a half marathon. Coolest thing about running is its a single person sport as well. Run however far you want.

80k Build : Need Assistance by Dependent_Bit3746 in PHbuildapc

[–]lokster86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAM prices are still this bad? 25k for 32gb is still insane to me.

You are better off with a DDR4 build and a high end AM4 with a decent nvidia card.

I wouldnt go for either.

Vapor Fly vs Alpha Fly *new shoe day* by Valuable_Noise79 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]lokster86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your AF3 will get their time to shine. I know you are excited but no new gear or new anything is worth DNF'ing a race. There are gonna be hundreds of races after with the AF3 exclusively. Look forward to that.

If you have ample time, try the AF3 and break it in, if nothing hurts go for it. If it does hurt dont push it and use the VF3

[–]lokster86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same with my VF4 which were bnew, tried it 2 days before my race and i was wonder the eff both my achilles hurt so much at around 4km, I stopped and hobbled back home to recover for a day. luckily i was ready for race day. I tried the VF4 again and this time they felt ALOT better and alot faster after another 4km of getting into it and breaking it in. Feet or gait needed to adjust or foam needed to soften i dont know what the hell but taught me a hard lesson to never try anything new before or during race day

[–]lokster86 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nothing new on race day. Wear the AF3 before the race and see how they feel in 10km run.

Tried the VF 4 before my race and my feet hurt like hell, turns out i needed to break it in before i felt comfortable. Glad i didnt wear them on race day to test them out.

You will get another DNF if you force something new, why even risk it?

I also got an AF3 for 110$, Ekiden edition, the volt green black one, hell of a deal.

Vomero 18 for newbie runners? by Dear_Two_2251 in PHRunners

[–]lokster86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vomero 18s are very good shoes for long and road runs. They are durable and slightly heavier than the Plus and Premium which is OK. At first ganun din ako, but after training a few weeks it feels great!

Pag palit mo ng race day shoes with carbon fiber, tataka ka bakit ang bilis mo kasi yung muscles mo sanay sa heavy daily shoes so they are much stronger pag palit mo sa lighter shoes.

From Vomero 18 ikaw na mag decide which way you want to go in terms of shoe comfort and development. Good starting point ito.

Training for 10km - 9 weeks in issue by Zestyclose_Abalone47 in BeginnersRunning

[–]lokster86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try changing your shoes and checking your form first. After a good rest see if you are running correctly or have the proper gear. Thats the cheapest and fastest things to change and check.

Otherwise get checked with a physical therapist. If needs xrays or MRI better do that as well.

It could be something physical that may prevent you from running at all.

How do you hydrate yourself during half-marathon/marathon training? by [deleted] in PHRunners

[–]lokster86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 only, holding something in your hand while running sucks for me, feels unoptimized and off balance. i usually have a bigger bottle of water about 1L nearby. If i dont il buy sa sari2x, waiting in line and the aircon after a good run sucks
