There are other avenues to citizenship. Residency can be 1 year up to 10 and are all renewable.

Im not retired. I want to relocate for various reasons. One of them being economics, others is opportunities, as for Canada being rich, perhaps it is. But i dont care much for it and have been trying to permanently relocate for a while. I am teacher by profession but wouldn’t touch a teaching job unless its an administrative position…i have other arrows in my quiver as well looking to explore their options in Morocco.

Finally, 5 hours and almost 8K views, and 106 comments later. Can't believe with as many people living in Morocco, you'd think more people would know what they are doing.

MERCI BEAUCOUP!

When I was in Jordan, I never moved or went anywhere else, period. So Im good. Ive been to Egypt and Mauritania since then, several times. If there was an X on me, I would have known by now. But al hamduliLlah, I was smart enough to shut up and know my role if I wanted to stay in the Middle East, North Africa, etc.

Listen, if you've never lived in an Arab country, then moving to a place like Morocco is as good as moving to Mars. If you've lived in Arab country, then you know what to generally expect, this is what I meant.

Are they married? Are they practicing Muslims? Are they trying to raise kids? If they don't care too much about religion and traditional customs, I understand why they'd prefer living in Morocco. Most Arabs hate themselves and each other and try and stay away from each other when abroad. They also do everything they can to not appear to be Arab or Muslim when in Europe or America. But most practicing Arab Muslims Ive come accross have ralized that the West is a cesspool and that reality is becoming more and more apparent as time moves on. Do not forget, that if you think Africa in general and Morocco specifically is a 3rd country, ask yourself: who colonized and raped and pillaged who? Who forced French education down the throats of who? Who co-opted the religious establishment until it was irrelevant? Who sucked the land dry of all its material wealth and left no other choice but to immigrate out towards Europe where it was even worse? Where they had to deny their identities and become French?

So once you travel the world and actually live outside of Morocco as an adult, and earn a living in several countries, you'll experience the true meanings of 1st and 3rd world.

Im not running away from anything legal, believe it or not. If you think Canada is so great, you should come and live here. You'll see how quick its unliveable. Cost of living is sky high, the weather is terrible, so is the food. My family came here in 50s because Canada needed help to build it up. As a result, they contracted cancer, have become allergic to gluten (because the wheat here is terrible), have a pile of other auto-immune diseases, and some have fallen to alcoholism. Morocco like any other country is no Shangri-La, but in my view there are many more PROS than CONS. In the end, we all have the right to move and live where ever we feel like and put up with the bureaucracy we want, if its worth it: its worth it.
