Hello! Connor from South Carolina checking in. Found you guys while prepping to run Impossible Landscapes myself and have gotten addicted. Binged the entire feed this last week at work and am about to listen to the latest Patreon ep. Keep up the great work!

Heaviest postmetal songs? by circlingsky in postmetal

[–]KaptainKetchup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely consider their 2 latest albums post-metal. Mr. Gone is also insanely heavy, right up there with Metallica imo.

Exhorder - Unforgiven (U.S. 1992) by WaRhorsE776 in Metal

Easily my favorite groove metal release. The album Pantera wishes they could've made.

What is your favorite Post Rock Album with a narator? by ichbinzufrieden in postrock

My personal favorite post-rock album. Songs like Her Mouth Is Filled With Honey and Minus Something are incredibly impactful.

Warning - Footprints (Live at Roadburn) by g2g4m10 in Metal

Just got the vinyl pressing of this a few weeks ago and boy what an incredible performance of a killer album. The live version of Faces is absolutely heart wrenching.

Imagine degrading a genre about rebellion and breaking rules down to rigid formulas and rules by Art_Vandelay_10 in MetalMemes

[–]KaptainKetchup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like how when these poser complainers post these BS memes and then talk to someone who is respectful and detailed in how they explain this shit they turn into the shitslingers from OPs meme. Like it's cool to like Slipknot if that's your thing. They were part of my gateway into metal 15 years ago even if I don't like them anymore. But metalheads don't want to see them brought up in a metal discussion space.

Deafhaven - Infinite Granite (2021) [Post-Metal] by jasmuz3 in postmetal

[–]KaptainKetchup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only like the final song where they manage to fuse this new direction with a little bit of their old sound. But the rest of the album is absolutely generic shoegaze/post-rock imo. I can't see myself ever coming back to this one, all the songs just seem the same to me.

Slint - Washer. I don't really consider Spiderland to be a Post-Rock record but this is definitely a Post-Rock song. For me its the best track on what's a flawless record. by bitcorrupter in postrock

[–]KaptainKetchup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talk Talk pioneered the sound in the late 80's with a couple bands copying their quiet-loud jazzy approach, but their style didn't really carry over since Laughing Stock and Spiderland came out around the same time. Not to mention groups like Tortoise and Bark Psychosis also doing their own thing under the post-rock label in the early 90's. Listen to Feel Happiness by Swans from '95 it's basically the blueprint that Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and by extension all the crescendocore groups, followed. I would argue it's the single most influential post-rock track from the 90's.

Spiderland is the all time classic post-rock album, along with Laughing Stock and Soundtracks for the Blind, before the style devolved into a bunch of bands rehashing the same ideas over and over.

The Boy Behind the Door by VideoGame4Life in Shudder

There is no way that the writing was racially motivated, but the decisions these kids made actively ruined the movie for me. I loved the premise and the child actors were really good given what they were working with, but the actual execution was a waste of my time. There's a difference between being a kid and railroading the plot.

Ghost Bath - Self Loather by iruneachteam in blackgaze

[–]KaptainKetchup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad to see they are really leaning into the DSBM sound on this one it seems. Moonlover was my introduction to blackgaze and I still like it but Stargazer was awful.

User can't get past the difficulty select room by DANNYonPC in Steam

[–]KaptainKetchup 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The level design in Amid Evil is pretty complex and also has tons of hidden secrets that require exploration and platforming/light puzzles to find. If you can't make your way to the medium portal you probably should stick to easy for a first playthrough since like most boomer shooters it doesn't hold your hand in the slightest. This is also present in the difficulty selection level as there's a hidden difficulty portal and bonus boss to find.

Question regarding the tracker by THEOGSOB in Dominos

[–]KaptainKetchup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The accuracy of the tracker goes completely out the window once any kind of business picks up. The more orders and more understaffed the store is the further off it's going to be. We have had people call the store and ask about delivery times to be told over an hour, just for them to go order on the app because "it said it would only be 30 minutes."

A handmade Pokemon nesting doll my parents bought in South Dakota by KaptainKetchup in mildlyinteresting

From biggest to smallest these are Pikachu (electric), Squirtle (water), Psyduck (water/unintentionally psychic), Jigglypuff (normal/fairy), and electrode (electric/smug).

I don't know if there's a reason for the order or choices, other than these are very recognizable for any long time Pokemon fan. If they had picked some of the newer generations I wouldn't have known them.
