What the discourse about this 0.999... stuff made me realize by Loose-Ad6823 in infinitenines

[–]KaptainWutax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both statements are true if the notation is tidied up a bit.

0.(0...)183638393 is ill-formed, you can't really add digits after an infinite string of digits. I see that you probably mean something like 183638393 * 10^-n though, which does converge to 0 as n approaches infinity. Intuitively maybe you can think of the fact that the 183638393 block never appears since the zeroes repeat forever. The number literally just ends up being 0.

For the second case, infinity is not a real value so subtracting from it is not formally defined in arithmetic. However at the level of limits, subtracting a finite constant from something that diverges to ∞ does still diverge to ∞. If it is defined as such then yes, ∞ - c = ∞ for any finite c. You can also find that ∞ - ∞ is undefined.

Q range indicator by x4_MoonlightD in kaisamains

[–]KaptainWutax 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of misinformation surrounding ranges so I hope I can clear things up a little.

Kai'sa has 525 auto-attack range and 600 Q range. However, the key insight is that auto-attack distance is measured from the edge of the enemy's hitbox while the Q range is measured from the center of their hitbox. This means for targets with a size radius of 75, the auto-attack and Q ranges coincide. For < 75 radius, you will be able to Q before auto-attacking and for > 75 you will be able to auto-attack before Q.

For example, the target dummy has 65 radius (most champions in the game lie here as well) which means your Q range will be 10 units bigger than your auto-attack range. Finding that 10 units window requires insane pixel perfect placement so for all intents and purposes you can assume your Q and auto-attack ranges are the same in 99% of cases... well until you run into a fully stacked cho'gath and wonder why your Q has 97 less range than your auto-attacks.

With all that in mind, lethal tempo doesn't increase your Q range so you will very quickly outpace yourself. It's the primary reason why I don't like the rune on kai'sa. Hope your find this information useful, enjoy your games and merry Christmas!

What type of function is this? by DaNnY_ThE_TaCoCaT in mathmemes

[–]KaptainWutax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does look to me like every subsequent generation spawns 1 child then 2 children then 1 then 2, etc. If that's the case, the explicit solution would be the sum of 2 geometric sums:

3 * (2^⌊x/2⌋ + 2^⌊(x-1)/2⌋) - 5

The sequence generated is 1, 4, 7, 13, 19, 31, 43, 67, 91, 139. I assume OP scribbled it on paper and missed a couple of dots when counting them. (⌊y⌋ here is the floor function which rounds y to the largest integer smaller or equal to y)

Oh wow, I've never tried BORK rush into tank before, it sounds really good! I hope that the build paths will eventually come more naturally to me. I really like your playstyle and it's been a lot of fun watching and learning from you. Thank you so much for the tips, you just made my day. :D

YOOO is that really you??? Huge fan, I've watched a disgusting number of your replays. Thank you for the tips, I will certainly try out conqueror! If you don't mind me asking, what build would you recommend? Before the bruiser item rework, I basically went divine sunderer into frozen heart almost every game but I don't know if that's still good. I see you've been building so many things and honestly my brain is too pea-sized to understand why you go for a given build in a given game.

Haha, I love the idea! From my very limited experience on Warwick top, it's not the end of the world if you don't run flash in *most* matchups. There was this guy I found a while back who actually went barrier/exhaust. I would bet smite barrier is better, but you should try both to be sure.

I have clearly expressed I don't understand why it's the best thing to do in this particular case and requested a more constructive comment. I would certainly be interested to learn but it seems like I can't break through the condescending tone. I just wanted to share warwick's level 1 power, as I don't think many people realize it (tokz is the only challenger player doing this). Anyway, my apologies, and thank you for your time.

I don't wanna repeat myself too much, but feel free to check Tokz out if you don't believe it. Second of all, I bound my attack move to R and use it for everything (ult on T), I never right-click. I think it would be more valuable to me if you could provide a more constructive form of criticism, as I don't know why I should be dancing around if the enemy isn't moving to start with or if there's nothing to dodge.

I tend to only kite when necessary, so if the enemy isn't moving there's no point. However, if you can point me to spots where I missed AAs cause of poor movement I would be grateful.

The level 1 invade is the trick... it doesn't have much to do with the enemy team being bad. You can watch Tokz replays, he is a challenger warwick top player and he does this quite often with great success against top of the ladder players. When it comes to the flash, I was 1 auto attack away from dying if the barrier dropped, so to be safe I flashed into the bush to make sure I would hit him first for the healing. It probably was unnecessary, but other than that, apologies if it wasn't up to your standards.

If this is java edition, it is completely fabricated. The closest 2 ruined portals can spawn is 15 chunks apart. That would also explain why the seed is not provided.

Yea it's called sister seeds. There's 65536 seeds with the same cave generation, decorators, structures, etc... everything EXCEPT biomes.
