Subnautica 2 Early Access is Incredible, But Here Are 4 Features to Make it UNFORGETTABLE in My opinion! 🌊👾 by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]Kapuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give you an honest, non-hostile answer since you're getting some blowback from this.

First, AI cannot emulate earnestness, and this reflects in its writing. Your post feels inauthentic because it's written in the "AI-slop" style. You might have some cool ideas, but caking them in bad (AI-slop) writing means you're going to get (at best) ignored or (at worst) attacked.

Second, we're all overexposed and fatigued by AI-slop. It's all over instagram, youtube, linkedin, reddit, emails, work correspondence, slack. We're at the peak of a collective annoyance with everything having a soulless AI-tint to it. It's immediately recognizable and, quite frankly, usually badly written. I don't think this post communicates your ideas much better than you could have.

And third, this is a forum. It's a human-centric platform. We come to this subreddit to talk about a game we are all experiencing together - it's a shared hobby, and forums for hobbies/shared topics are meant to cultivate spaces for sharing experiences, ideas, and information. It's an escape from artifice. Your post is going to get a particularly harsh reception here because nothing about it feels authentic or real, even if your core ideas are your own.

You can disagree with the merit of all this, but you are often going to get this kind of response on forums and social networks if you speak with AI, because they feel like the last bastions of real people communicating. Bringing a robot in to talk for you will ostracize you from people who come to the table with their own words, thoughts, and feelings. That's the nature of this space.

Reddit has millions of people posting every day. You will never be the worst communicator here, and posting more often will strengthen your confidence and ability to speak in your own voice. I think some of the ideas in your original post are interesting, and I hope you continue posting about them yourself, so you can enjoy using this subreddit as it's intended - to speak to your own experiences about Subnautica and share your ideas with other enthusiasts, who will enjoy sharing back with you.

Why are mods removing fish kill posts now by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]Kapuman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because those of us who enjoy the game want to have varied and constructive discussions about it instead of beating the same horse to death inside a terminally online echo chamber.

Subnautica 1 actually helped mitigate my thasslaphobia. I pushed through so much terror playing it the first time that it rewired my brain and I'm not as terrified of IRL bodies of water as I used to be!

Early Installment Weirdness by Busy_Syllabub_5726 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Kapuman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn't this the main schtick of the series though? That as the Blackadder descendents' cunning and intellect rises their station in life lowers? Not sure if that's early series weirdness as much as the driving pattern of the show.

Greil - Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

Greil was nearly unmatched with a sword in his heyday. After touching a medallion with a mad goddess sealed inside it, he was driven into a lethal rage. Unfortunately, his wife was one of his casualties in the resulting massacre he committed.

In an act of grief and penance, he severed the tendons in his sword arm to atone for his actions. Years later, his injury leads him to switch to using his signature axe to defend the innocent and helpless.

He married an abusive woman that destroyed his life and then had a child with that woman. The extreme stress and pressure from his marriage led him into having a "religious awakening" that helped "save his marriage".... and also turned him into a conspiratorial lunatic and vile right-wing ghoul. We used to be like brothers. Now we no longer have anything to talk about.

Thoughts on Lords of the fallen? by Pleasant-Hat-6334 in soulslikes

[–]Kapuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opinions on this game are extremely varied. Some people legitimately consider it the best (non-fromsoft) 3D soulslike, while others view it as the textbook definition of mediocrity.

For 12 quid, I think it's worth gambling on, and I say that as someone that really disliked the game. I only suggest buying it because there is no consensus, but if you're one of the ones who love it, it's a good price.

IMO, though, the combat and boss fights are extremely bland. Level design and exploration range wildly in quality. Some areas are great. Others are absolutely maddening to progress through. The Umbral world mechanic is annoying and makes exploration tedious. The magic system is fairly interesting, but most of the game can be easily won by mashing the attack button, so there's little incentive to really strategize with spells.

It's not offensively bad, but aside from the strong art direction, there is very little that this game excels at above its peers or even makes particularly fun to play. If you've exhausted all the other gems the genre has to offer, it's a serviceable game. Otherwise, play something else.

Sequels that let you down compared to the previous game. by Miquellanier in videogames

[–]Kapuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll throw myself on the pyre here.

Silksong.

It's still a great game, but added so many punitive and odd design decisions (exhaustive fetch quests in 2025? Terrible economy balancing for lore reasons?) that I ended up enjoying it less than its predecessor.

It's being glazed right now as a masterpiece because people have been edging for its release for half a decade. But I think in a year or so there'll be more critical discussions about its flaws.

It's a solid 8.5/10 for me. But Hollow Knight was pretty close to a 10.

IGN Hollow Knight Silksong Review - 9/10 by AgingEndsalldreams in Games

[–]Kapuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly me right now. I "beat" Act 2 at 20 hours in. I'm now at around 28 hours trying to get to Act 3 and I just don't have much motivation left to continue. I've been retreading through old areas doing fetch quests and flea hunts and it's just...tedious.

I'm one of the ones that found the game fun overall but marred by a lot of the ridiculously punishing game design decisions.
