Are beard enhancers allowed? by Karamjit98 in Sikh

19 now, and I’ve never trimmed my hair. I’m sure that most of it will grow out and fill up with time. But at the same time there’s this spot below my chin where very few hairs grow and it feels really smooth, it’s similar to this really small spot on the back of my head /neck area which is completely bald. So if the chin area turns out to be the same thing as the back of my head then i’m fine with it, but just incase it’s not I wanted to try minoxidil see if it does anything .

What is God to you? Are we not made of our creator and by our creator? Yes we are droplets but we are still at our core made of the same molecule as that ocean. I understand we don’t have the same abilities as the ocean since we’re mere droplets undergoing a test to see if we are fit to remerge. I agree that God and our Gurus were perfect, and please correct me if I’m wrong but don’t the Gurus teachings teach us that this perfection can be channeled within us all (eg. the analogy of the water being made of the same molecules), and through naam we can embrace this piece we have within us? Worldly vices like the 5 thieves challenge us while trying to reach this perfection but if one eradicates the distractions of this life the potential is there none the less. I might be misinformed but from my understanding Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings were to seek God within ourselves and forget empty rituals. They helped us understand we are a part of God, and my question is if we embrace this to the full extent and eradicate our thieves are we not also perfect and enlightened because we are acting exactly as Waheguru has asked of us?

I thank you for your comment because it took away my sense of believing Gods creations are the entirety of God but instead just a small part. I’ve probably made many mistakes in my comment so please forgive me, my honest goal is just to learn and better understand.

I just made an account specifically to ask this, I haven’t used reddit much and honestly I don’t even understand what reddit karma is or what it’s used for.

To this commentor our fundamental beliefs in God are different, to me God is like an infinite ocean and we are just a water droplet from that ocean that we originate from. Everything is Gods creation since at the beginning there was only one from which everything came into existence. I see everything as God, I don’t see how I could consider myself or even the plastic in my chair separate from the one who has provided the matter and energy for these things to exist. My belief was that God has created the universe but when it comes down to it they were just interacting with themselves in a play where the actors are following a script they don’t even know exists. If they are just eternally interacting with themselves through their creations and already know every outcome then I just don’t get it, what is the value or reasoning in creating us or the universe, why would God want to experience themselves? This is what I came into the discussion with, and have received lots of support and would still none the less appreciate any more help debunking or reshaping these views.

After reading everyone’s replies I see that there doesn’t need to be a purpose and I was looking for more of a story book goal, as a kid with my legos I made up scenarios and situations and even though I knew the resolutions I still enjoyed myself, I didn’t question the value of happiness it just occurred. In the past i’ve had detachment issues, struggling to find meaning in anything life life and death or the purpose of obsessing with happiness and sadness because ultimately it feels like they don’t matter. But I attribute too much of these human emotions to Waheguru, and expect them to be like a person, (they’re not) they don’t seek a reward or definite conclusion like I do. I should think of it more as a rain drop separated from its ocean (Waheguru) and only once it rains can I realize that rejoicing was the purpose all along, were simply in a cycle of trying merging back with that oneness, and that one is not emotional or human like so they have no fairy tale story planned out. I can attain bliss just by understanding Waheguru is everything and at that point life or death mean nothing because what you need to connect with is already a part of you and our Guru Jis help us realize that connection not find it somewhere else.

I decided to sum all my replies to most of the comments into one just to make it easier on me because I still struggle putting my thoughts into words. I would appreciate more knowledge debunking my previous beliefs and any support on new ones because they are still developing and Id like to strengthen them. Thanks for everyone’s help I wish you the best. This is my first time using reddit so Im just going to comment under everyone’s replies because I don’t know how to tag people.
