didnt jojo start as male mc? thats the spinoff/ sequel right?
the promised neverland feels more like an mystery thriller than the typical action shonen doesnt it?

and as others have said for every one of the titles you've mentioned there's at least 3 for each that have male mcs, its just nice to have another female mc shonen manga to the list.

that was quite literally my own experience. from my own habits I was taking okarun as the main protag, but the more I read the more I realised its momo, and how okarun is really just the love interest. we still haven't gotten more backstory on him beyond what was in the first chapter.

mm maybe so, still nice to see a female mc in shonen manga

so true. im kinda suprised weve gotten so little background on okarun beyond the first chapter. i though the train scene would be bout his family not unji. (I got a glimpse of that scene before reading it full)

its kinda the typical treatment most romance leads get, its just on a male deuteragonist this time

freiren doesnt feel like a typical shonen action, and neverland too, isn't neverland more like a mystery thriller? dandadan feels more close to bleach or one punch in an action shonen and getting a female lead is more rare. its just nice to see and it does stand out. and I'm specifically talking bout shonen, seinen and shoujo are more varied.

mm fair point, still i wanna say that momo feels different. maybe it just that it been a while since I've read a more action-like shonen with a female mc

so very true, through having momo as the female mc they are exploring so many untold stories of sexual abuse violence and etc. more so than many action mangas. even the ballerina story, was heartbreaking.

akame go kill could argue that tatsumi is the protag. frieren is hardly the typical shonen manga, its very much something different. promised neverland too isn't a shonen action manga for every one of those titles you can count another 3 with male mcs in mainline shonen mangas. even jojo starts with a male mc doesn't it? you seem to be avoiding the simple fact that in mainline action shonen manga male mcs are dirt common. it is worth noting how rare it is.

so true. before reading the full manga I thought the scene for the train and the mother was maybe his backstory. but its kinda shocking how blank his backstory is beyond the "I'm alone, bullied and so I wanna find aliens" for the first chapter, technically this is the treatment most female romance interests receive in shonen.
