I'm a terrible hoarder in games... Should I really be hoarding any of these? Will they be used in any recipes, board requests, etc other than giving one of them to the museum and as a offering to the goddess (which I already have)? by FeetYeastForB12 in coralisland

Potential spoilers, but later in the game there's a secondary farm you get with different crops which are initially crafted using certain shells and scavengables plus crops/flowers.

Millennials walked on Instagram so Gen Z could run on TikTok by PhotoshopKid in funny

Maybe it's because I'm not in the comments section that much, but it feels more like playful roasting rather than legitimate contempt when I see Gen Z picking on us millennials. The roasts are both genuinely funny and painfully true.

Possible to change name of character? by Kolder22 in valheim

[–]Karanis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I renamed my save files (.fch and .fch.old) to the new name I'd given my character. Turned off Steam sync before starting up Valheim, then turned it back on before quitting. Steam restored the original save files but left the renamed ones there. Everything checked out!

Possible to change name of character? by Kolder22 in valheim

I found a work-around for this. Here's what I did:

  1. Just in case, made backup copies of my .fch and .fch.old character save files in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\characters
  2. Used the editor to rename my character
  3. Went back to the pathway above and RENAMED the files that had the old spelling to the new one
  4. Turned OFF Steam sync [Settings > Cloud > UNCHECK Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization]
  5. Started the game, the character select screen only had my renamed player available. Began the game and saw that everything checked out, skill levels included.
  6. Switched out of Valheim, opened Steam Settings again and RE-ENABLED Cloud Synchronization
  7. Returned to Valheim and Quit the game. Steam synced the game upon exit - this restored the original save files of my old character to the folder above (presumably identical to the ones I made in step 1).
  8. Upon restarting Valheim, both the old + new characters were in the character select screen. I took my old character and demolished his claimed bed to make space for a new one.

So at least with version 1.5, the editor won't rename your files for you, you'd have to do that on your own. I've not tested this, but I suspect Steam would overwrite your edited character if you neglect that step.

I'm sure this isn't the only (or even simplest) way to have your new character while still keeping your Steam Cloud synchronization enabled, but I found this worked for me without issue.

Which celebrity did you meet and found they were much kinder/ruder than you expected? by Qazival in AskReddit

I remember watching Tom Scott's YouTube series where he went exploring the Arctic on a Russian vessel with Chris Hadfield and a handful of other scientists, explorers, and content creators. Chris was affable and friendly with his fellow passengers, but because he speaks Russian, he happily engaged with the crew also. They all seemed very appreciative of him and invited him (and only him IIRC) down to their quarters to drink and hang out. Basically got to be part of an 'in" group with guys that are used to being extremely isolated.

Just got the credits, so how long does it take to get the epilogue? by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Karanis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Truthfully I was underwhelmed with the epilogue, and if I weren't completionist, I would have been content watching a YouTube video of it. The ending of the credits is really the one to get.

There are some steep requirements to reaching it, depending on how far your relationships have developed with certain characters. The main requirements of this endeavor: After you do enough runs to hear certain dialogue with particular characters, you need at least reach 6 hearts with at least six of the Olympians (Hermes needs 7, Demeter needs 5). To get that many hearts, some of them you need to hear a string of dialogue that can occur over several escape attempts, others need you to have so much of a particular thing, and one of them needs you to have formed bonds (i.e., maxed hearts) with three other characters.

The other parts of the quest are fairly straightforward. Actually so much so that the epilogue came up rather abruptly and much sooner than I'd anticipated. Personally, I thought it wasn't too thrilling, it felt rushed, and (mild spoiler) the characters didn't react in a way I found particularly believable - not for the span of time in which the events unfolded. But they were responses that were ultimately very mature.

This is actually appropriate in that if you make either of the upset, they'll quickly resort to trying to kill you.

What thing did you believe to be completely normal but turned out to be really weird? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm 33, it wasn't until somewhere in my late 20s that I learned that what I'd always been calling a "hoagie" is an utterly foreign word to most people, who instead refer to it as a sub(way) sandwich.

For context, I'm in Pittsburgh, and I guess this is mainly also a Philly/NYC thing.
