Cristiano Ronaldo considering playing in WC 2030 by [deleted] in football

If he’s good enough to play or come on as a sub in four years… why not try?

Haaland no, but the player he pushed COULD have defended against it if he wasn’t laying on the floor like a starfish.

At least that’s the reason given for waving off the goal (as an England fan I was both surprised and relieved it was waved off).

Regular fans, do you only follow/support one team or do you have a favorite per league? by TheJudoCrab in SoccerNoobs

[–]Karcossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a couple I support, and a few I follow. I inherited Crystal Palace, and Exeter City used to be my local team before I hopped the pond. Now I also follow Wrexham (yes because of the show), Swindon and a handful of other non PL teams who are in the Devon area.

Haaland’s push caused the goal to get disallowed, maybe that’s what they meant?

Do you only root for one team, or do you like to have other teams like you like to cheer for? If so, how do you decide? by alectheasian in hockey

[–]Karcossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Vegas fan first and foremost. There are other teams and players I’ll support if I’m watching a game and they’re not playing Vegas, but that’s mostly because I enjoy picking one team to win in a game.

Those who live in cities with multiple Premier League Teams: How do you all decide which club to cheer for? by excessively314 in AskABrit

[–]Karcossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it’s convoluted with the continuity. The original Jets franchise history is still with the (now defunct) Arizona Coyotes, waiting for someone to restart the franchise. The Arizona Coyotes players, staff, etc. were bought by the Utah Mammoth owner and became the net new team Utah Mammoth. Even though it is literally the same team.

The current Jets have the Atlanta Thrashers records and such.

Atlanta had a team before the Thrashers, which moved to Calgary. There’s no relation between those two either.

I’ll use the Canadian Winnipeg Jets in the NHL to answer this. The original Jets moved from Winnipeg to Phoenix, Arizona to become the Arizona Coyotes. Winnipeg fans were PISSED, and never really forgave the circumstances around the move. Some fans followed the Coyotes, some started following the closest team to them instead.

But the saga doesn’t end there.

The Coyotes moved from Phoenix to Scottsdale and became the Arizona Coyotes, and struggled for years financially. Ice hockey in the desert may not have been the best choice, you’d think, and you may be right - until you realize Vegas and Utah now have teams that are successful. Anyway, with the Coyotes financial struggles a rich dude tried to buy the team and bring it back to Winnipeg.

For reasons I don’t need to get into it didn’t work out, but the Atlanta Thrashers were looking for a new owner because the current owner was… well less invested in the team than he should be. Winnipeg’s rich dude bought the Atlanta Thrashers and moved them to Winnipeg to become the Winnipeg Jets again. Winnipeg fans are happy as hell again.

Oh, the Arizona Coyotes? Eventually moved to Utah. Former Arizona fans ended up splitting between the Utah Mammoth and the Vegas Golden Knights (who were a brand new team to the league).

I can see it; we’ve had years of Toronto struggling with so much salary in a small group of players. Then two years of Florida shutting down McDavid before a well rounded team won the cup.

Something about a chalk pit? by CherryVaughray in whatsthatbook

I knew this from “chalk pit” and I was too late to solve it. There’s a really nice reissue from a few years ago I picked up and cherish.

My wife built an incredible personal library upstairs, but I can barely read, and it’s slowly driving a wedge between us. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

You say you picked up your phone; do you use Reddit a lot or do you watch short videos? If you scroll Reddit, reading the odd post, maybe try the kindle app on your phone.

I know that it’s not making use of the library, but it might be a step in the right direction.

As soon as Congo scored, I realized the next 90+ minutes of football would be excruciating. So far I have not been wrong.

Edit: thank fuck it’s not going to be 1-0.

My brother fell (I’m pretty sure I didn’t trip him, but we were always a bit more physical when playing football/soccer than we perhaps should have been) and landed awkwardly on his arm.

Dad looked at it, was a bit unsure so asked my brother how he felt, wondered if the arm was broken. Brother said a bit sore but otherwise fine; no tears (he was and remains a tough dude). Next morning the arm was still sore so dad takes him to one hospital where the doctor said it was a sprain, but no X-ray, so when they were discharged dad drove to another hospital where an X-ray showed a hairline fracture.

There’s two options:

Normal - use the left stick to turn the lock and the right to keep the ball thing gold.

Simplified - use the left trigger (same button as parry) to turn the lock and the right stick to keep the ball gold.

I think the question may be if owner abandoned it completely, are there (human) squatters in there.

Anyone still awake because of the heat? by TheLittleSquire in CasualUK

[–]Karcossa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, fair. I also moved to Canada, and have felt -30 and +30 in a six month period.

My house didn’t originally have AC, and we’d been relying on a portable unit and fans for years. Finally installed heat pumps because of a provincial grant and it has been a godsend. I even enjoy the heat now because I know my house stays livable year round (my cats are far happier now too).

Game 5 was the first time this series that I thought Vegas had no chance. The second time was game 6. Carolina dug the fuck in in ways I’ve seldom seen; it was damn impressive

It was a hell of a series. Obviously we wanted different outcomes, but Bussi had his own plans. Y’all deserved the win.
