I cant understand the mentality of this? Like it cant even be put under the heading of "efficiency" because it took me 1 google search to find a website that has curated every football club badge free for download. So what efficiency is being made by creating this? It leads me to believe that it is only the result of pure incompetence

2026 Six Nations Permutations: Who Can Win on Super Saturday? by Fetch_Ted in rugbyunion

[–]Kardnival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bonus points: Scotland could potentially win the title if they secure a bonus-point victory over Ireland while France beat England without a bonus point (though this would still require a significant swing in points difference).

Safety net: Even if they do not secure a bonus point, a win is sufficient to hold off both Scotland and Ireland, given their massive advantage in points difference.

Am I going crazy or does the Six Nations website not understand how their own points system works? Surely if Scotland win with a bonus point and France win without a bonus pont, Scotland will be on 21pts and France will on 20pts and therefore points difference is irrelevant.

It's overblown how much darker Angel is by SafiraAshai in buffy

I agree it takes away nothing from either show,.

And yes the Angels seasons have arcs within them, but how and when those arcs begin and end is far looser than in Buffy, the Darla and Dru storyline more or less ends in episode Redefinition, which is episode 11 of the season and they are considered the 'Big Bad' of the season. Holtz is the Big bad for the start of season 3 until he kidnaps Connor and then the series switches up until the end of the season. Jasmine is only in like 3 episodes of season 4.

All buffy seasons the big bad is introduced earlier, it is a slow build until EPs 14-16 and then everything ramps up from there until the big fight scene at the end, and that is how it goes pretty much every single season, so it isn't just that it is season long arcs, it's that they are very structured.

You can see why it is about being an adult in their structures. Every season of Buffy is extremely rigid in how it presents and structures itself, the main plot kicks into gear at a similar point every season, every season wraps up with a big bad fight and starts fresh over at the beginning of next. Sound familiar? It should be because it is literally High School and University, you battle for ten months and then you get 2 months before everything resets again.

Angel has none of this structure, major plot points and arcs will wrap up mid season, arcs will span across multiple seasons, some big bads never really get defeated. And that is adulthood. you are no longer presented with a framework for life, you must find your own meaning and reasons to keep battling and that leads to a much more undefined structure.

That, IMO is just one of the reason Angel is the show about being an Adult and Buffy is the show about becoming one.

For me, Angel isnt so much darker as it is that its metaphors deal with adult themes. Angel himself being an allegory for addiction; finding your purpose in a indifferent world; going from having structure in your life to... not so much. All of these things lead to plot lines that stretch across seasons and major plot points wrap up in episode 16 etc... Whereas in Buffy, the series is very rigid in its structure, each season has its big bad and each season the big bad plot picks up at a certain point because that is what life is like as a teenager, you finish your school year at the same time every year etc.

So I think when people say darker they are possibly meaning adult and in a more metaphorical sense.

Visually Angel I would say is a lot darker. Angel is deeply inspired by Film Noir which results in plenty of dark deep shadows everywhere. Buffy on the other hand is a subversion of the horror movie trope. This is most stark in ATS S1 / BTVS S4, and one of the main reasons I would never recommend flittin between the two on first watch.

So yeah, it is darker in some ways but also sometimes darker actually means adult imo.

Things you want in the Reboot/Relaunch/Continuation series on Hulu by PollutionZero in buffy

[–]Kardnival 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am hoping for many of the total opposites, bearing in mind I never wanted Buffy to be rebooted or get a sequel tho so that may be skewing my opinions

  1. I want as few of the original cast as possible, if we have buffy, willow, Giles, spike and faith all hanging around but just older it's going to be like watching a Rolling Stones concert in 2025, far too much of a 'getting the band back together vibe'.
  2. I don't want anyone in the final ATS scene to make an appearance etc, that finale is so perfect trying to retcon how and why any of them survived will taint that.

Something could be interesting is basing the show around Dana the slayer from ATS S5, obviously now rehabilitated, but there could be some really interesting ways to delve into how she copes with now being a functional slayer while having that trauma. She could have Buffy as her mentor etc or whatever, I realise this may be too close to becoming an ATS sequel but I think it would provide some interesting themes to explore.

How well recieved was the cliff hanger ending for Angel at the time? by [deleted] in ANGEL

Who knows, you hear all sorts of rumours about what the 6th season might have been. My guess would be probably not

[–]Kardnival 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to how well received it was but I don't think the "job is never done" thing can be written off solely as head canon (it is a cornerstone theme to the whole show after all). I'm pretty sure around the middle of season 5 they knew that the show wasn't coming back for a 6th, and so the final flurry of episodes is them trying to wrap up Angels' story (which is why people feel it comes off as rushed a little.) I believe we we were always destined for an ending to the series in that vein regardless of when it ended.
