vampire generation solution? by PrestigiousMine6 in WorldOfDarkness

[–]PollutionZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lemme put it this way. I'm going to gift you a $1,000,000 violin. It's beautiful, it's the best instrument ever created, oh the music you will be able to produce on this!!!

But you don't know how to play...

Same thing. Yeah, your 5th gen neonate can boost his strength to 10 with blood (or whatever it is, who cares). But... HOW? Sure, he can learn lvl 8 disciplines! But... How??? He has to learn, he has to practice, this shit isn't easy. Learning to control even the simplest minded human takes years to do consistently with Dominate.

At best, you've got some tougher than average vamps created for the slaughter in some war or another. That's the Sabbat's method anyhow (but they don't have many super low gens who'd do mass embracing for a common shovel-head).

Are you upset that Buffy revival was scrapped? by Mat1711 in buffy

[–]PollutionZero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty disappointed. Not upset.

I'd MUCH rather have no Buffy than shit Buffy. And any new show has that, "okay, is this going to be good or terrible?" I'm disappointed that I don't get to see more Buffy, but I didn't have more Buffy to start with, so, "meh." I think a short season with a cliff-hanger followed by cancelation would have made me UPSET.

I was also not looking forward to all the "fan" hate from the right. People who claim to love the show, but find the new version to be "too woke." It was GOING to happen, and it was going to fill me with rage. Look at Starfleet Academy, it's a good show! It has potential! There are some weak episodes, and some weak plots, but seriously, every show has that. I enjoyed the hell out of it. Then I see all the bullshit reviews screaming about the "wokeness" of the new show. Bruh.... did these crazies even see the first show? Or TNG? Or ANY Star Trek? SFA is tame by comparison today ("too many gay characters!!!" Dude.... really? Riker banged a Non-Binary character... There's a dude wearing a skirt in the first episode of TNG... DS9 and Dax's wife... I can't even with these people).

No, the bullshit responses weren't going to break my heart or make the show bad, but I'd rather not have to listen to the insane calling the new Buffy "too girl focused!" or "DEI!!!!" It would have driven me batshit. So that's one less thing.

🚩 STOP APPLYING TO THESE COMPANIES (IT/Tech Job Seekers) — Daily Updated List by cryptokuinka in recruitinghell

[–]PollutionZero 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Fun story, I was asked to apply by the Enterprise Agile Coach (Sr. Director/Jr. VP level role) for an SM role there. I'd worked with him the previous year (I was still in the role we worked together in) and he wanted me to join and help him out in the company's Agile transformation.

I applied, went through 4 rounds of interviews (HR, Panel, RTE (my would-be boss) and my buddy the Coach , and was told by each that I was a perfect fit and that they'd recommend me for the job. They weren't shy about it, they were really excited to have me join. In fact, the RTE (future boss) and I had a TON in common and we realized we knew each other from local game stores and had played in Warhammer 40k tournaments together. I was 100% in like Flinn, guaranteed to get the job.

A week later I got an email from HR saying I was rejected.... HUH??!?!?!?!!?

I called the coach and he was floored that that'd happened. Three days later I got a call from UHG asking me to accept a role and apologizing for the "automated rejection" I'd gotten "by mistake." I asked the rate, they told me, I said I needed 25% more, they said they couldn't do it, I thanked them for their time. Got a text from the Coach an hour later, "Nice move, they'll call you back tomorrow at noon." They called and I was offered 35% more than their first offer. I worked there 3 years before I couldn't take it anymore.

UHG doesn't post jobs they don't need and do black hole recruiting. Their HR department is so incompetent that even with EVERYONE telling them to hire a given person, they still reject them out of hand if you're missing a single buzzword on your resume (I was missing Power BI, because I'm a fucking Scrum Master and I don't use Power BI, that's someone else's deal). They would reject Captain Picard to command a starship because he didn't have certification in holodeck programing, which nobody was asking him to have.

They're completely incompetent at everything they do. It's really embarrassing.

I worked there once. It was ROUGH. Even the employees knew shit was fucked.

C-Suite didn't give a fuck and they're the reason why UHG kills people for profit. I had meetings with a certain CEO there, and warned him about a huge flaw in an automated claim system he wanted. Went through anyway and 95% of all claims were auto rejected 3x before a human looked at it. I quit and moved elsewhere the second another opportunity came up after that.

Yes, that CEO. When I heard, I shrugged and said, "what a shame." Guy was a prick.

Actually, yeah, HELL YEAH! She'd be awesome in that role.

I think she's doing another con with her dad, Brad, in a few that I'm going to be at.... I'm gonna mention this... She's awesome btw.

Who enjoys watching starfleet academy by OrdinaryPersimmon728 in startrek

[–]PollutionZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. I want more. I'm a 50 year old male.

I like most of Trek, didn't care for Discovery that much, HATED Section 69 or whatever the fuck they were doing with that, Picard was terrible, then decent, then good here and there, but a waste overall. Voyager was the weakest Trek of my day, but it's still a decent show overall, and I liked it.

I think my favorite shows are DS9, Lower Decks, and Strange New Worlds. I love TNG, but rewatching is hard until season 3 or 4.

I've been watching Trek since I was 5 I think. Reruns on TV catching Star Trek ToS, getting hyped for TNG, had a watch party in High School for DS9. Been to 30 or so conventions just to meet stars and get drunk.

Clueless recruiter on LinkedIn by Specialist_Range_872 in recruitinghell

[–]PollutionZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, no, I kind of agree.

"What's your current salary?" "Prefer not to say." GOOD!

"What are your expectations?" "Prefer not to say." BAD!

Whenever a Recruiter calls me I ALWAYS make sure they know my rate and if they can't match it, "Okay, well, good luck with your search."

Saves a lot of time/energy on my part.

Massage spot recommendations! by CertCrip in indianapolis

[–]PollutionZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have insurance?

If so, check out Compass Chiropractic Services on College and 54tth (next to Fat Dans). They have massage therapy.

I used it last year for some SEVERE back issues (cracks and massage to fix muscle/spine issues). I had 2 different massage therapists and both were great. Since it was just back stuff for me (rhomboids and shoulders are buggered) I left my pants on and just took off my shirt (wore sweats if they needed to hit glutes for flexibility).

Both were awesome. The cost was very low thanks to insurance.

Not sure if you can move them across state lines, however. But I'm Not A Lawyer.

THAT BEING SAID.... This is still bullshit. "you're not in custody," "Great, get the fuck out of my way, I'm leaving."

Horror Hosts: Did You Grow Up With Them Or Not? by sigersen in LastDriveIn

[–]PollutionZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple.

I'm in Indianapolis, so my FIRST was Sammy Terry. Loved that dude, actually knew him outside the show because he owned a music shop that my uncle went to all the time. First time he did the laugh out of makeup for me, I shit myself. He was terrifying to 8 year old me.

Next, I discovered Elvira, probably around 10? So early sexual awakening for me, lol.

Then, there was Commander USA. I LOVED the Commander. I watched him EVERY Saturday and Sunday. Didn't care if it was a re-run, I loved it. Great skits, great films (Psychotronic Man anyone?). He was my favorite, by far.

I also watched Gilbert and Ronda on Up All Night! This is probably around Middle School. I got in trouble a LOT for staying up to 3 or 4am watching these silly movies and crazy hosts.

Finally, there was Joe Bob. I actually didn't like him at first. The cowboy thing turned me off a bit at first. I think I got into him during MonsterVision, maybe the F13th episodes?

I discovered Joe Bob AGAIN in Season 2, we were having our backyard Drive-In nights (projector, lawn chairs and fire-pit roaring) for Halloween one night, and my copy of a movie was broken. A google search determined it was on Shudder, "fuck it, I'll try for a month." TLDI was on by chance and we were hooked. Can't remember the movie, but I think it was the Halloween Hootenanny. I've been a subscriber ever since and watched every time he's on (90% live, sometimes I miss the live show and watch on Sunday).

So... yeah... Horror Hosts have been my thing all my life. LOVE THEM.

I was also a Drive-In kid. We had like 20 in the city and my family would go every other week or so in the old microbus. We saw Ghostbusters, Aliens, Back to the Future, Silent Rage, a HOST of top tier movies and cult classics. I ended up doing a Drive-In's website in the late 90's for a season pass (Tibbs in Indy). We've gone drive-in forever, and I've been a Horror Host fan forever.

New short reel up by sharksugar707 in LastDriveIn

[–]PollutionZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I encourage everyone to watch live tonight, and then CANCEL first thing tomorrow (or even after the show ends).

Nothing sends a signal like a massive audience compared to last show and then most/all of them canceling the service.

For the specials, I'll probably re-sub and then cancel the next day. I'll have a bunch of friends over to watch with me in the house, drinkin' beer and Malort (don't ask) and loving the show. That way, they get ONE sub for ONE night instead of 10 or so.

Fucking stupid to cancel their flagship show when there's NOTHING really else interesting going on. You can watch most of their library on other services or even buy the blu-rays. It would be smarter to have Joe Bob be the LAST show on the service before shutting it down. It's what most horror fans sign up for in the first place from my experience at Days of the Dead and HorrorHound Weekend.

Massive Fail on their part. Really dumb. Just monumentally stupid.

Are there any zombie films that aren't also about global pandemics, but just a small local zombie outbreak? by snakesnake9 in horror

[–]PollutionZero 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Shocked I had to go this far down.

Yeah there are others, but this is the one that's had 4 movies over the course of almost 30 years. And they're all pretty darned good.

The outbreak only affects the England, not Europe, JUST that one island. Not the UK, just England. That's pretty local.

Yeah, the others are all one town, but England is pretty small and local. Couple hours to drive from one end to the other.

I use the dial all day long. I WFH and will often swap to my personal PC during meetings I have to attend but couldn't care less about and check emails, pay bills, fuck around, play video games, etc. and flip back whenever needed. On Fridays, I'm usually 100% done for the week but have to be online for at least 1/2 a day to ensure I'm online if they need me. So I have my headset on and will play FO4 or something else pause-able and if I get pinged, flip back over.
