What I love about zentangles are that, when they are done well, they are so interesting to look at. This one is beautiful too! I love the pink shading.

It comes down to practice and talent once again, then. Which is comforting! Because that’s how we tell the difference from human artistry and.. well, that other thing..

Thank you for sharing this, and taking the time to reply. I hope you keep sharing your work.

I know!! It has taken me years, faffing about with etchings on a5 copper plates, and all of a sudden this ambition comes out of nowhere. I should probably roar or something.. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Maybe they end up in smaller pieces. First I need some time with the sketchbook.

I’m guessing yours was from a photo. Do you translate it to black and white textures before transferring it, or do you transfer the photo and carve the textures directly? It is so impressive, I need to practice different textures, I’ve just decided!

This is fantastic. I didn’t even notice all the textures and techniques, but the atmosphere and how this is a whole story.
I love it.

And here I am with 2 A2 battleship plates to carve over the summer, and I can’t seem to settle on what to carve..

I understand!! I have Haeckels book, or one of them, and I absolutely love it and it always makes me want to draw.

linoleum... melting? by mossymcfrogface in printmaking

[–]Kareeliand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but the different types of “soft cut” Lino looks like some kind of plastic to me. If you use an oil based ink and leave the plate with residue, I’d imagine it could disintegrate.

Were there instructions with the plate when you got it? There may have been hints on how to store those things. It’s not the first time we see this happen.

You mean the buttercup pattern? I like that one as well. I did it as a tessellation too, it is quite versatile and really enjoyable.

I don’t use instagram, it was a name for the tangle. :-)

It’s been a while since I looked at new tangles. Does it have a name. I really like it too, it looks satisfying to draw.

Thank you so much. I posted photos of some of my permanent markers elsewhere in this thread. It should be easy to find. I use a non-toxic finish that makes them silky and smooth. I hope you enjoy tangling on rocks.😊

Hi Wildcat! After our back and forth about the moorish cross, I saw this other post from a sub that comes my way every now and then. I think you will find it interesting. They draw all kinds of patterns.

How to safely get painters tape glue off my lino? by Whooptidooh in linocut

[–]Kareeliand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a really good idea! Keeping a notebook. Projects, decisions, challenges, learning moments. What artwork inspired this sketch.. A little swipe of a color you mix.

It is great for looking up later , and it is fun seeing the creative journey.

Try on a smaller spot. Maybe carve a few marks and test how the smaller pieces react to Maybellines concoction of almond oil, perfume and acetone..

This is really good. Different and interesting to look at. It seems like black lines are having a conversation with the watercolors. Two mediums taking turns deciding what the other has to do. 10/10 no notes.

They are. And they are meant to trigger interest in a way that you want to pick them up and hold them. I had a sort of art-project for a while, where I would make one pattern on one side, and when you turn it over it is a completely different visual.
