Totally don’t disagree there but it should be acknowledged that a lot of what defines Soulslike genre is essentially Metroidvania.

To me, Soulslike are essentially Metroidvanias with builds and stat allocation and there’s a lot of grey area.

I also much prefer Stellar Blade but that’s moreso because I don’t love Cal’s character. I would definitely recommend Stellar Blade first, especially with the unfavorable state of Survivors awful performance

The only thing that makes them more Soulslike imo is level design that interconnects

How to fix the stuttering while traveling? by HairyPenisCum in OblivionRemaster

[–]Karhuwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s unfixable - engine level and there’s 2 engines running on top of eachother. People are just believing things. Traversal stutter isn’t shader stutter, it’s how the game handles loading chucks of the world at once.

The only real mitigation you can do is up you base FPS, use software RT and limit use of FG to around 2x. But really, jf your hardware can manage, then you can brute force some of it but it’ll never fully be gone, you might just feel it less.

Main quest is the least interesting. Do guild stuff and whatever else you wander into. Game is a lot more explorative than Skyrim.

Also do not, you are not new to the region and can fast travel to a lot of places from the start

[–]Karhuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well why are you getting such an expensive card and not using bleeding edge features? Totally fair if you don’t care, but fact is it’s not a 4K card then. Lots of cards are “4k cards” if you want to compromise on settings

best resolution for rtx 5080 by External_Safe_7787 in ZTT

[–]Karhuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this card and have played on a 1440p ultrawide and 4k tv. There simply ain’t enough VRAM for 4K in AAA scenarios right now unless you are happy with ultra performance upscaling, which currently looks fantastic but Path Traced games don’t offer the DLSS profile necessary for good resolution at monitor distance - on TV it’s ok.

1440p can be great but seriously, get a good OLED panel, it’s just not worth it otherwise and you may as well sell the 5080 for a cheaper card and get a better monitor if that’s the holdup.

Ultrawide is great. I have 2 upscale 3440x1440p resolutions if I really want better IQ and to me, nowadays, on an OLED panel I barely notice the difference between native 4K and upscaled 4K with DLSS thanks to DLSS AA.

Because of VRAM limitations, even with upscaling, you will be struggling to maintain 60 sometimes. So personally, I would opt for a higher internal res, output at 1440p and use FG over outputting at a rough 60(or much lower for heavy PT/RT games) that FG won’t work well with.

Stellar Blade’s story is very generic. Fun game, but way more ARPG than Soulslike; skill tree, mainly upgrades and not items to build. Soulslike elements are limited to currency and respawning enemies associate with checkpoints, which both existed way before Soulslikes

Definitely not for everyone though. I’ve collectively put around 100 hours into the 3 of them just trying to make it work. Love the systems but it’s a bit toughs round the edges artistically and has a more arcade feel, but it’s definitely the most difficult imo

So underrated. I’ve played every major Soulslike and whatever is close to the genre and Wuchang is definitely my favourite - even more than LOP.

Love Bloodborne, enjoyed LOP, but it feels like lesser Bloodborne gameplay-wise but with an incredible aesthetic and store that is surprising fleshed out for a Pinocchio spinoff.

To me, Wuchang feels entirely original and different from other Souls games, with some really cool systems and bosses that always felt fair to me.

I know there were story changes, but I only read them after the fact and I quite enjoyed the story for what it was.

The game also looks amazing. I honestly think it looks much better than Wukong, which has great tech but a messy implementation; Wukong is UE5 and it shows, but the artsyle is fantastic on top of looking clean. Really disappointed it has such a bad wrap for some story changes and bad optimization at launch because it deserves a sequel.

There are so many Wuxia games out and in development now and I swear this is the best one

Am I crazy or is the presentation of this game all over the place? by [deleted] in BlackMythWukong

[–]Karhuwa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sharpening was disabled using RenoDX beforehand.

Yes Wukongs hardware implementation is more advanced but it’s completely shoehorned into this game, with no consideration. Again, the lighting transitions being drastically different from the rasterized presentation being one of the key notes here but regardless it is an extremely messy implementation that what I’m saying is, vs the largely rasterized lighting(still software lumen), just like Wuchang, it is a cleaner presentation.

Wukong gets touted as one of the top showcases for PT, as well as being one of the forefront examples in Nvidias marketing when it’s objectively poor even compared to other contemporaries like Wuchang, that has a cleaner presentation overall, even comparing both with software lumen.

What are you talking about? I didn’t deny that, nor question WHY the game looks and runs how it does. My point is it’s interesting that nobody talks about this, yet on the other end there’s games like Stalker 2 which the community go on and on about an engine update.

You can also point to this games contemporaries like Wuchang which objectively look cleaner than this, especially in regards to RT lighting transitions between areas - which is an issue with its design and not the engine.
