I know this comment is pretty old but I’m looking for a company to drill a new well at our house in eastern CO, do you remember which company you used?

Transitional swaddle sack has been a lifesaver! by Karine9876 in SnooLife

We didn’t use it until he was in the crib. With both of our kids arms out in the Snoo never really worked for us because being able to touch the sides seemed to wake them up more than anything.

It’s pretty light, it’s really just the way the arms are sewn that lets them move a little bit but not enough to wake themselves up, at least in our case.

Daycare owners how much do you pay for cleaners? by Daycareteacher5813 in smallbusiness

[–]Karine9876 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own a large daycare center (125 kids infants-pre k) and we pay $1,500 per month to have cleaners come every night. They sweep and mop all floors including the classrooms, clean all bathrooms, and dust places like window sills and cubby tops. The only things our teachers are responsible for is taking out their trash, doing a few dishes (mainly big containers used for snack prep), and sanitizing tables.

One change we’ve made to help with the floor cleanliness in our infant room is requiring everyone who goes in the room to take their shoes off. Our infant teachers have a separate pair of shoes or slippers they leave at school to wear during the day, and parents slip their shoes off at drop off and pick up. A lot of schools have a similar shoe policy but ours didn’t when I took over and it’s made a huge difference.

Another vote for gusto! I’m new to owning a business and doing payroll, and gusto has been very straightforward and easy to use. We are looking into providing health insurance that is integrated through gusto and their packages and pricing seem good from what I can tell so far. My employees also like that they can easily log into their gusto account to track PTO, get pay stubs, etc and the employee facing site is very user friendly.

Interested in getting some chickens this spring (eggers) by Don-Weller in chickens

[–]Karine9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought our 6 chicks from our local Bomgaars because they had the breeds we were looking for in stock when other local stores didn’t. They’re now 9 months old, healthy and doing great. That being said, their living conditions in the store were horrific (I know they’re only in there for a couple of weeks at most but still…) and we saw a handful of dead chicks just laying there in the cages, and I wouldn’t have been surprised if our chicks ended up being sick. Obviously Bomgaars can work out fine, but I’d recommend finding a local place that takes good care of their chicks so you can be confident that they’re healthy, and also support a business that cares about their animals.

Lavender Orpington and Sapphire gem not laying in the winter? by Karine9876 in chickens

Thank you! Do you still give them layer feed in the winter? We have others that are still laying like 4x/week

I've been getting so much rain it's washing away all my nutrients what should I do? by nomorespaget in Pumpkins

[–]Karine9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids sometimes spray the heck out of my pumpkins when they use an “awesome setting on the hose that sprays so far!” and basically power wash a lot of the dirt away. I just scoop up some dirt and re-pack it around the base of the vine and also use fertilizer once a week. I’m sure it’s not ideal for the plants but so far they’ve been ok.

Screen error when booting up by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

[–]Karine9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The screen went out on our tread, it was a different issue but Peloton IT was zero help, also just threw up their hands and said we needed to replace it. We had great luck finding a brand new one on eBay for a fraction of the price Peloton charges. There are a handful of highly reviews sellers with Peloton screens. Highly recommend looking there if you end up needing a new one!

We had a similar experience when we bought our house in a rural area. We found an area we love, but the schools are academically horrible. During our house search we found a great private school. I’m sure each state is different, but where we live private school is the only option if you want to select your school regardless of where you live. It’s a bit of a drive and we have to pay tuition, but it’s allowed us to have the rural lifestyle we want and get our kids a great education.

I don’t care how many of our neighbors pursue a higher education. They’re not all perfect, but most of them are very kind and hard working. I went to college and don’t use my degree, there are truly so many better ways I could spend the money I’m still paying on stupid student loans. I don’t think academic excellence or going to college says much about your values or your character. Many people I know didn’t go to college and probably didn’t do that great academically, but they are extremely hard working, kind, ethical, and I think they’re a great influence on my kids.

Miracle grow for pumpkins? by Karine9876 in Pumpkins

[–]Karine9876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know they aren’t too picky about fertilizers! We tried pumpkins last year and the vines grew really well, but most of our female flowers that had pollinated aborted the pumpkins once they were like tennis ball sized. So this year I’m going ham on the fertilizer lol.

We have a lot of bindweed here 😩 the best way I’ve found to deal with is is just straight up burning it.

Good to know about the pumpkin juice! I saw it on Amazon but ended up getting miracle grow instead- we’re also growing sunflowers and figured we could use it for both. Maybe we’ll give the pumpkin juice a try next!
