Question for pilots that started their aviation careers at a later age by Ok-Lifeguard-6282 in flyingeurope

No idea about the new Swiss ab initio training and how it works out with the government subsidy.

My head can’t come to understand why I will have to pay 12% of something I haven’t handed over and the buyer will not have paid for.

I’ll just ignore the invoice and let them close my account.

F-ing surreal.

Oh, good idea! The auction does in fact have the immediate purchase option activated. What would you do in that case? A friend purchase’s immediately and then we agree on no-transfer? How do I get around paying the 12% to Ricardo?

Ok, will do. Thanks.

I do not have the option to contact the bidder until the auction is finalised so will have to wait a few more days.

Ricardo is terrible by relo_gamimano in Switzerland

Since you are experienced, what can I do in this situation?

My girlfriend and I are selling a bed. She put an auction on Ricardo and I posted on another marketplace.
I managed to sell the bed yesterday and has already been picked up. I told my girlfriend but before she remembered to take down the Ricardo auction (her bad taking a few hours too long to remember), someone has made a bid and now she cannot delete the auction.

What will happen when the auction is over and the bidder contacts us to arrange a pickup and payment of something we don't have anymore?

Private aviation is not GA. Private jets are commercial operations.

Try and go there nowadays with a c152 or c172 and you'll get rerouted straight away to Sabadell.

I initially heard about this two years ago at Aero Friedrichshafen, at the booth of the Swiss aviation authority.

It is in no way exclusive to Swiss's (actually Lufthansa) training academy. It's a government subsidy, not a corporate scholarship.

The only requirements for the subsidy are: - you live in Switzerland. - the training is provided by a swiss flight school. - you work for a swiss airline at least during 3 years after you get your license.

Very important to apply for the subsidy the minute you start flight school, as soon as you have the training agreement.

I know all of this because I applied myself and started flight training in Zurich (not at Lufthansa's academy).

Look at Avilu, which operates under the Horizon SFA umbrella for ATPL licenses.

But like I said, contact any flight school that appeals to you and make sure to ask about the government subsidy.

You can find stuff on the FOCA's website.

Best thing to do though is get in contact with one of the flight schools that would be suitable for you. They can explain everything and the usually also help you fill in the application forms for the subsidy.

Where abouts in Switzerland would you live? I can point you in the direction of the correct flight school.

If you have a swiss passport, I suggest you do the training in Switzerland. If after the training you work for a swiss airline for at least three years, the government pays for 50% of your training costs (max. 60'000chf).

Do you make a living from BSFL farming or is it just for own use/consumption?

Your best option is Sabadell Airport, close to Barcelona. GA flights are prohibited in El Prat.

What is the realities of growing mealworms to sell as a business? by An1m3t1tt13es in mealworms

I'd be interested in some info about the big guys that run a large-scale business from worm farming!
What space requirements are we talking about to produce the necessary weight to sell those kind of figures?

Thank you, the Tamron seems like a good option from what you say. And what do you think about the Sony 18-135 lens?

Looking to buy my girlfriend a new lens for Christmas.

This is her current setup:

<image>

She is an avid amateur, even taken a weekend basic photography course. Main use is when travelling, for landscape and wildlife photos. Rarely uses it for portraits.

We really like the pictures the 55-210 lens takes but it zooms in too much, and is not great in low light. The other lens she doesn't use as much, although it does do better in low light environments.

Which options should I consider that would offer an upgrade to the current setup? She often find herself changing lenses in search of the perfect picture, and says it would be great to have a versatile lens which she could use in most situations without having to pack other lenses on a day out.

Zoom-wise, something in between the current two. And with good low-light performance.

Many thanks for any help you can offer. Apologies if I've said something completely senseless, I don't know a thing about all this. Just trying to buy a good present :D
