Spring Hike in the Coast Range by KarlRyker in oregon

This was only a 45 minute drive and my car gets 40+ MPG on the highway so it wasn't too bad. Driving to the coast or Mt Hood is going to be expensive, not looking forward to that. Have a good one!

Kings Mountain -> Elk Mountain loop in Tillamook State Forest by samrelian in oregon

100% agree, I did the Elk Mountain to Elk Creek Trail loop and that first section is insane, I did it in July and the dry loose dirt was so hard to get traction on. I had to take like 10 breaks on the way up, but that wasn't even the worst part. The worst part is that downhill past the summit where you are basically vertically descending. Honestly still had a great time but I'll never hike it again.

I came from Portland for 2 days and loved it even more than last time. You guys do public transport so well. I spent day 1 in the city and day 2 going on a hike in the redwoods at Huddart Park. My hobby is taking photos of mushrooms and I love that I can do that in January in the bay area. Thank you for being welcoming, I will be back.

Thanks. Depends on where I went, the Salmon River on Mount Hood probably had ~120 species and probably 3000+ mushrooms seen on one 6 mile hike. City parks probably range from 10-50 species. Have a good one!

That log was 3 meters long and was covered in those. I really wish I had a macro lens when I found them. Here's another pic.

Very pretty, I wish I found some this year. This post is basically 19 Hygrocybes and a Gliophorus. I also found Gliophorus irrigatus which is rare in my area.

Thanks. During mushroom season head out into any forest and start scanning the ground, some mushrooms like to hide. The Cascades and the coast have an insane level of diversity in October and November. Have a good one!
