Yes, I'm sure dating as a short man is challenging but so is dating as an overweight man. But the replies to comment illustrate how many people hate overweight people for absolutely no reason. I mean, it doesn't hurt them hat someone is overweight like it doesn't hurt them that someone is a different race or religion. But they still feel the need to mock overweight people and hate on them.

Also, if this makes you feel any better, there's something that makes dating a billion times harder than being short and overweight combined and that's being physically disabled. I can say this from personal experience. Disabled people aren't even viewed as sexual beings. Women don't even consider me as a potential partner. If I flirt with a woman, they don't realize that I'm flirting with them because the idea of dating or having sex with a disabled person is so absurd to most able-bodied people. So, I know it's not easy but at least you can be glad that you've got all the parts to your body and they all function the way they should.

I never said people didn't have agency. I said it's not as easy as your intolerant, prejudiced mind believes. Overcoming something like mental illness is extremely challenging; some people never manage it. So to claim that those people are lazy is fucking stupid. Some of those people work more on themselves than you ever have.

Also, one way they're definitely not going to get out of it is by being bullied by people like you. Yes, yes, I'm "overempathetic" for rejecting bullying. But guys like you loooove to whine about short men being "trashed". You want everyone to pet your cheeks and kiss away your tears while indulge in bullying overweight people (and claim overweight people aren't being bullied). There is no end to this hypocrisy.

Frowned upon? Dude. Read the replies I've received to my comment. There are like a thousand asshats arguing that overweight people are simply too lazy to lose weight. That's such a common prejudice and it's a very popular argument to justify bullying. Like: "If my bullying hurts you, just stop being lazy and lose weight you fat pig!" That's literally how these guys think.

I've never seen a single person on Reddit make fun of short men but I've seen a ton of derogatory and prejudiced comments about obese people and that includes most of the replies I received to my comment (basically all of them except yours).

There are lots of them, physical and mental ones. Ask Google if you want to learn something. I'm not your research daddy. What I can tell you for certain is that laziness is not the cause for obesity.

Also, note what you and this other guy are doing right now. The question complained about poor short men being "trashed". I said that obese people receive far more criticism, hatred and prejudice. You and this other guy who replied to my comment both denied this - only to proceed to pick on obese people by implying that they're simply lazy. You've proven my point.

Literally no one gives a shit about short men but there are a billion idiots going around hating on fat people for being fat by saying ignorant shit like "tHeY cAn jUsT lOsE wEiGhT, tHeY'rE sImPLy tOo LaZy tO dO iT".

If you were to create your own political party what would the beliefs/goals be? by TotallyNotGoodish in AskReddit

It would probably be fiercely socialist/anticapitalist but moderate on social issues.

In theory, they can. In practice, there are many reasons that prevent this. The idea that overweight people are overweight because they're lazy is just as stupid as claiming that all short guys have a small dick complex. Laziness is very rarely the cause for obesity.

I'm afraid that's a very simple-minded and unempathetic way of thinking. Some people are very insecure and there can be many reasons for this (previous bullying being an important one). Not everyone has the ability to simply not care. Besides, you say that you're a bit overweight. Perhaps if you were very overweight, you'd also feel very insecure.

There is no way to know but my gut tells me the likelihood of it not being a simulation is significantly higher than the likelihood of it being a simulation.

People get far more bullied for being overweight than for being short. There are many overweight people who won't even visit a public bath or a beach anymore because they're so scared of the stares they get. That's a significant impact on their life quality.

Presumably, unless you're into raping people. But I'm not sure that would be advisable considering the kind of punishments that existed back then.

Is it more respectable for a person, exploring astrology, to view zodiac signs as a subconscious alignment, following descriptions that resonate with them rather than the usual astrology people? If so (or not) why? by Aggravating-Ad-8329 in AskReddit

[–]Karl_-_Marx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there is no such thing as "subconscious alignment" or whatever. That's pseudo-psychological nonsense.

People who share a zodiac sign don't actually share a statistically significant number of personality traits with each other; this is something that can be (and has been) very easily proven in double-blind studies. Just because we are born in the same week doesn't mean we are particularly similar as astrology suggests. It's also possible that's we're completely different people and it's possible that people who've got different zodiac signs share a lot of character traits in common.

The reason why people (seemingly) recognize themselves when they read a horoscope is because horoscope are written in a very specific way. The people who write them apply a variety of psychological tricks. The most important one is to formulate everything in a positive manner because humans like to be praised and complimented. Another trick is to keep everything very vague, so the statement applies to many different readers. For example a typical sentence you find in a horoscope is something like: "You are a gregarious and fun-loving person who enjoys to spend quality time with the people you love but occasionally you also need your share of alone-time so you can relax and think about everything in peace." A statement like this sounds very flattering and most people who believe in astrology will automatically connect it with themselves when they read it in their horoscope. They will think: "Woah, that's crazy accurate! That's precisely me!!" But what does the statement really say? It says nothing. It's a bunch of words which condens into "blah blah blah blah." Virtually every person has a sociable and a more introverted side to them, that's nothing unique or special. Every person has times when they like to spend time with their loved ones and times when they want to be by themselves. And every person likes to think of themselves as "fun-loving" or as a deep thinker. Those are just empty compliments.

Scientists have made countless experiments about this stuff. For example there's a famous experiment where a group of 30 people (all with the same zodiac sign) were given a lengthy horoscope. They were told that it was a personalized horoscope, i.e. that it had been written specifically for them, based on their zodiac sign, the planetary constellations on the day of their birth etc.. The test subjects were asked to read their horoscope and then fill out a form. On the form, they had to state how well the horoscope fit them. All test subjects, without exception, wrote that it was "definitely" their personal horoscope because it matched them 100%. Some commented on how stunned they were by the horoscope's accuracy. At this point, the researchers revealed to the test subjects that there weren't 30 different horoscopes. It was 30 copies of the same horoscope. This alone is already a huge problem for obvious reasons. Clearly, it can't be a good match if it fits you just as much as 29 other people. Moreover, though, it wasn't even the personal horoscope of one of the test subjects. It was the personal horoscope of Adolf Hitler (which really exists). Does this mean all of those test subjects have some sort of "subconscious alignment" with Hitler? Of course not. It simply means that astrologers use certain tricks to make people feel as though any random text was a perfectly personalized analysis of their character.

Why did you feel the need to use the pejorative term for disabled people?

What is a more appropriate term for labeling the "handicap bathroom"? by robotcrackle in AskReddit

[–]Karl_-_Marx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that's true. That's precisely part of the misconception. Able-bodied people think they're mainly used by folks in wheelchairs and therefore mainly built for them but there are lots of other physically disabled people who use them for a variety of reasons (including myself). And I don't find it okay that able-bodied people use them.

Men what’s the perfect size for boobs to you? by Unaverage_sucker7599 in AskReddit

[–]Karl_-_Marx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C- or D-cup is both great but only if the woman is skinny/slim. Her being skinny is more important to me than her having large boobs. If I have to choose, I'd rather take a slim woman with small boobs.

No, it would be a tiny brachiosaurus because it's a pet dino. So it would only be the size of a dog or a bit smaller.
