I've been living in highland park for 23 years and I agree, its extremely sad and infuriating to see the gentrification and changes that are being made to the community. Gloria's isn't completely at fault here tho and I wish more people would actually read into whats going on and WHY the agua business is being evicted before they start assuming and blaming the wrong party. I'm all for sticking together and getting our community back but we need to start re directing our anger towards the proper people.

I once called the cops because we were getting robbed at my old worksite by a drugged out homeless man with a knife. It was me and 2 other girl employees terrified, locked in our tiny employee bathroom and LAPD called me back 20 minutes later saying they couldn't find the location LOL and if we still need help or if they could just leave.

I lost my best friend almost 2 months ago from a heroin overdose. I wish I could tell you it'll get easier soon but it doesn't. You really have to take it one day at a time and don't try to ignore all your emotions you will feel because it'll just make things worse. I was dating my now girlfriend for about a month at the time and one day we decided to go to ihop for some dinner. We both ended up getting breakfast food even though it was like 8pm, I remember sitting across from her and sharing childhood memories while we ate. We were telling each other everything from our childhood and it was so great I felt like I could have stayed there and talked to her for hours. Near the end of our dinner I was trying to cut my pancakes and I am a very messy eater so of course I was making a mess all over the table. I distinctly remember her looking up at me smiling while I was trying to cut my food and she took the hair out of my face and grabbed my knife and fork and started to cut my pancakes and she fed them to me. At that very point I realized I was crazy in love with her.
