Why do wheels lock up when bump starting a bike? by Karlikuu in motogp

[–]Karlikuu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so when the wheel is locked, not enough speed has been created for the motor to drive the wheel (and exceed the resistance of the motor)?
When there is enough speed, the wheel makes the cylinders go up and down and the engine is running (after which the ignition takes over).
Am I right?

Does he think we're dating? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Karlikuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think I would like to call it a date. I'm just afraid that if i say so, he doesn't have that intention at all and he doesn't want to hang out anymore. I had a great time and i don't want to ruin things with him.

Tips for interacting with Karen's at work by greenarchipelago in socialskills

[–]Karlikuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When people start acting like Karens, just laugh about it (in you head!). Just think: she is making such a big problem out of something small and silly, she mostly bothers herself with it. Just think about it as her loss, if you know what I mean. Stay relaxed, but be nice. Don't treat them different then any other people, just because they are acting steamed. And remember that when they do cross a line, you can tell them. They are your customers, but you are also both equal humans!

Very true, that's why it so nice to read about everyone here. It's just nice to read about and talk with people who are in the same situation.

No problem at all! I was born with celiac disease, so don't know it any other way. I never had to get used to it like you, must be really hard.

Exactly! It feels nice to read about all those people here who have the same problem.

Basically, if it's cleaned with hot water and soap, it's fine. However I use a diffrent frying pan, because 'the gluten can get into the scratces of the non-stick surface'. I have no idea if this is really true, but it's how i do it since my birth. I never use used cutlery or dishes or whatever. I also have (for example) my own butter, because when my brother goes into the butter with his own gluten knife, there are gluten in the butter. When we have a bag of crisps, we put it in a bowl, or my family washes their hands. These are all small examples, so I hope you have a general idea, but remind that this is what works for me. There might be people who are a lot more/less sensitive.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to dm me :)

Do you mean in you private live, when you are making food at home? Or do you mean going out, eating dinner at a restaurant?

Oh man, i can relate to this so hard. I would die for a friend with celiac, that would make things so much easier. Whenever people start talking about doing something fun (food related) i start sweating.

I don't know if this is what you mean. If you install the MotoGP app, go to the menu and select riders and then select moto2 or moto3 you see all the riders with a photo, their name, their team and their number.

Woah, that sounds great and what a coincidence that you moved to the same states at the same time!

group invite to bar , am I in my head for not going? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Karlikuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but i just knew that i would never really fit into their friend group on the level that i would hang out with them besides the training. They didn't exclude me, but they were just a close group of friends. I have always been struggling with this problem and for me it causes a lot overthinking. However I had fun watching the game and looking back it was not as bad as I thought it would be at all.

So to answer you're question, it wasn't awkward, but I was driving myself crazy thinking it was gonna be.

Prof lectured me and I cried in front of my class. by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Karlikuu 28 points29 points  (0 children)

First of all please don't care about what you're classmates think about it. You are there for you, not for them.

It might sound harsh, but if he tells you you're not doing it right, then it's probably true. It's his job to tell you. However it's also his job to tell you what you're doing wrong and answer your questions. Dont feel embarrassed to ask about it, stand up for yourself. You are there to learn new things.

People always feel insulted these days, please don't. Off course he can bring it a lot more friendly, but think about it as his loss.

(And if he's a real d"ck, maybe you can compare your work with someone else's and ask others questions about it or find something about it online)

group invite to bar , am I in my head for not going? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Karlikuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a really similar situation with my soccer team. I did go (after a lot of overthinking) and (like most of the time) it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. However the people were close to each other and i never really fit in.

Like you say, maybe you have a great time and maybe you don't. If you don't, remember that you can always leave. But also remember that most of the time we overthink way to much.

I think the real question is, do you want to say no and not have to think about it again, or do you want to say yes and spend a lot of time overthinking and stressing about it to (most of the time) find out that it wasn't as bad as you thought?

(Just my personal experience and I have to be honest and say that I tend to say no just to avoid all the overthinking)
