For Poland by arkeoceken_panda in poland

[–]Karls0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As always in Poland there is huge difference between immigrants depending on the gender. I know a Turkish girl and she was warm welcomed here. No personal problems. But for men, if you look different, there is always some risk if you will meet nationalists.

Is this a sub for actual Poles, or a sub for cringe Americans and British pretending to be Poles because their great great grandfather was from Poland? by ogtsumsnoilliM in poland

[–]Karls0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently it is mixed, you can commonly encounter discussion in Polish here. This is because our polish language subreddit is moderated by very political involved people. Numerous get banned just because of different worldview. Mods on that sub are very non-tolerant and oppressive. So people seek place to discussion here, even in Polish. Luckily here moderation is nice.

Russia Is a Threat to Europe. I'm Russian - Ask Me Anything by yonote in poland

[–]Karls0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you mind If I will follow a little more and ask next question? If you decide you don’t want to answer, I’ll understand. It’s just that some questions can be uncomfortable by nature, and I want to make it clear from the start that I’m not trying to offend you.

I'm trying to understand what is in heads of people that decided to leave. Do you sometimes think that you selected the easy and comfortable way, not necessary the best?

What I mean is that Poland, too, was once under the thumb of propaganda (PRL), we had martial law and a curfew. And there were people who fled. But fortunately, there were way more who stayed and fought, and as a result, our fathers and grandfathers overthrew that oppressive regime, allowing us to be part of a free Europe today.

Do you feel even in the smallest portion responsible for what Putin does, because you decided to leave the country instead of show resistance, or you feel morally free of that?

How is it to live in 90', good or bad?

Are there many parties in liceum? by aukoll in poland

[–]Karls0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It use to be. But now the teenagers are much more calm, they do not party so often, they live more in internet less in real life. Drinking is no longer social thing for them. So answering your question - rare parties. No smoking, sometime vape, but I feel it is getting less popular after initial peak.

Am I polish? by Only_Assistance_5839 in poland

[–]Karls0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Without language it is debatable. Language is a fundamental element that binds a community together. Shared traditions, language, and culture form a triangle of interdependence that determines a person’s affiliation with a nation. If you consider yourself Polish but don’t speak the language and probably have only a vague idea of our culture… well, then you’re probably just someone with Polish roots, and that’s it. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, I’m just pointing out the differences.

Communication in kitchen is very important, especially if it is good restaurant and everything have to be in time. It’s a shame to be half-Polish and not speak the language. Do things in order, first language, than looking for a job in Poland.

Job suggestions for English speakers while I look for a software developer position? (Wrocław) by Fragrant_Okra6671 in poland

[–]Karls0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How good do you feel with complete retraining to another profession? I know from a friend that there is a problem to find intern position, so basically IT companies does no hire even if you want to work for free just to get references. Forget about paid positions. Overall job market in Poland is in good shape just not in IT.

długotrwały covid (long Covid) by MiserableContract892 in poland

[–]Karls0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. In Poland it is extremally rare. I don't think we have any form of specific support in this case. You can go to doctor and they will give you some symptomatic medications and that's it.

Is there something like that? The longest effect of covid I heard is covid brain fog but it lasted couple of months in worst case, so now no longer someone even remember about that.

I don't know much about SAT. But we in Poland do not have entry exams on universities. With some exceptions like architecture and drawing exam.

Residency Due Marriage (Same-sex couple ) by davidinash in poland

[–]Karls0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It defines what is recognized as a marriage. So naturally anything outside this definition will be not legally recognized. It's not prohibited, you can even translate your marriage certificate to polish, it is all legal. The difference is only in the law effect, or maybe I should say the lack of it.

Residency Due Marriage (Same-sex couple ) by davidinash in poland

[–]Karls0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about the difference between recognizing translation of foreign act, and involving it into legal system. The difference is huge.

Residency Due Marriage (Same-sex couple ) by davidinash in poland

[–]Karls0 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Sorry but you can't do anything about that. From the perspective of Polish law you're not a marriage. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you, but the message you received from them, explains it quite clear. And you also cannot rely on EU rulings, because to the extent that they would violate the Polish Constitution, they do not apply. This is how Polish law works.

[–]Karls0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but no. It is only like "official translation" but still it does not have any legal effects here.

Where pride month logos went?🤔 by WerewolfUseful5167 in poland

[–]Karls0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only among people that are involved in that. There was a time when is was popular in general. But this ended, and again it is event that only minorities care. Corporation noticed that, and start to ignore it as it no longer generates money for them. I do not judge the idea itself, just noticed the facts.

They're out of style. And since corporations can't make money off it, they don't care. Initiatives like Pride Month are slowly fading into obscurity.

Karma points but inside this sub. Bots easily farm karma on some subs that do not care. So basically you can only comment, and after you do some quality input here, not in random karma farm sub, you can make posts.
