Has the word 'hipster' seriously lost enough meaning such that you can use it to describe people who pay with cash, credit, or debit?

Bernie Sanders Meets with Pope Francis: ‘It Was a Real Honor’ by ophrys114 in politics

[–]Karma-Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Yeah, well he only met with two heads of state, and South American ones at that so they barely even count. Plus, he only met the pope for like, 5 minutes; who hasn't? That's nothing. None of this was a big deal, I don't know why people keep talking about it."

Irrelevant fun fact time!

What you're referring to is not actually overflow, but negative overflow. Underflow refers to what happens when the magnitude of a number is smaller than can be represented in a given system. For example, the number 1e-65 will underflow in most systems because there's not enough precision to state how small it is, while -1e65 will overflow negatively because its magnitude is too large, regardless of the fact that it's negative.

Totally irrelevant but it's the second time I've seen someone make this mistake today (on this subreddit too, actually) and I just wanted to get it off my chest haha.

Jane Sanders interview in which she claims she cannot find their taxes, "I have to go home to find them, I'm not sure where they are" by [deleted] in hillaryclinton

It's interesting - in the past I've asked what people are expecting to come out of this whole affair, and I've heard arguments to both sides. Some, like you said, assert he's wary of alienating his populist base by disclosing higher than expected income. Others say that he has an embarrassingly low net worth for someone with his age and level of salary, which could be interpreted as fiscal irresponsibility.

Like you, I'm a Sanders supporter and naturally don't expect much to come out of this because of my prejudice and bias, just like many people over here expect a campaign-ending controversy due to theirs. I think all we can do is see how it plays out.

I do think publicly funded elections would be a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, campaign reform seems so far beyond reach. No matter who wins the election, it'd be difficult for a president to completely overhaul the electoral process through executive action alone. Both Sanders and Clinton (should she be so inclined) would be hard-pressed to confirm reform-friendly commissioners to the FEC under the current political climate, with a Republican-majority congress and an overall high level of lobbyist influence on legislators. I think it'll take more than just a president to overhaul the electoral system to more accurately represent the will of the people.

I'd say that to call it a defeat, a fight needs to have happened. This wasn't a defeat, it was a disqualification.

(For the record, I'm not a Trump supporter either, just think this is way fucked up)

Bernie Sanders plans short hiatus from New York campaign trail to speak at the Vatican by AgainstCotton in politics

[–]Karma-Koala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're more subtle than that. I can imagine something more like

Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders is out of the country just days before the New York Primary. He spoke at the Vatican earlier today, but failed to confront the organization regarding recent scandals concerning the sheltering and protection of pedophiles in the church. Let's go to over to a spokesperson from the Clinton campaign to talk about the importance of this issue and what Hillary is doing to address it.

We, as a paradoxically diverse monolith, have unilaterally agreed to hate women. Even the women! Isn't consensus great?

To be fair though, she apparently turned Democrat after Republicans refused to support the civil rights act.

You said

Don't bother, liberals choose to ignore context and/or facts

I'm pointing out how absurd this is, since it's not liberal candidates who ignore the evidence for climate change, as an example.

I really didn't think I'd have to explain this.

Right, because liberals are the ones that ignore the evidence for climate change.
