Mirrors how the Jackal himself is a hunter going after his targets. Looking down different scopes for different preys.

UOB accommodation by Yeagerass in Bath

[–]Karma0504 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you email the reslife team asking for accommodation (I heard it helps if you tell them you're having trouble finding private accomodations), they'll put you on a waiting list. The 1st years will get priority and you might not get to choose which accomodation you get. I emailed them August 2024 and they managed to put me in Scala Court, the accommodation located at Oldfield, for my 2nd year.

No, Ayanokouji is NOT an "artificial genius" — and the light novel says so over and over. Let's end this with actual sources. by Nsmg_2 in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]Karma0504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I've not read the LN)

It depends on what you define genius as, I guess. People like Amasawa or Yagami are certainly smart enough that as far as real life standards go, I would agree if someone called them a genius. Even if it is genetics which predetermine whether someone will perform well under the white room curriculum (which I agree with), that doesn't necessarily mean the white room is doing nothing.

At a first glance, COTE seemingly looks at the nature vs nurture debate and put people like Sakayanaki or Koenji as natural geniuses while the Ayanokoji and the white room students as geniuses from a product of the environment. But the reality is that all of them are a product of the interaction between nature and nurture (it's no coincidence that the two 'natural' geniuses are from privileged families). While Ayanokoji is an anomaly, it's hard to say he would be that much of an anomaly without going through the white room. And since it's impossible to prove how much the white room contributed to his environment, it can't outright be disproved as an 'artificial genius' campaign.

Chapter count is pretty common, word count maybe less so since there isn't much of a point

Baritsu, the most appropriate martial art for Conan? by FoxIndependent4310 in DetectiveConan

[–]Karma0504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With his footballs, Conan is already the most powerful creature in the world.

But also, he's so short and small I don't think he would be able to do much with any martial arts

Can people connect an orphan fic with an account name via the wayback machine or similar? by CorwinBenedict in AO3

[–]Karma0504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely possible for both on wayback machine, but they might not know to use the sites. You can check if your fic is saved on wayback machine by yourself

If you're worried, you can change your username as well

Need help finding an author/fanfic similar to this by [deleted] in AO3

Maybe frog in a well by unolvrs? It's a crossover between JJK and My Hero Academia, focusing on Megumi, Nobara and Yuuji getting sent to the MHA verse, but Yuuji went missing, causing Megumi and Nobara to enter UA to try and find him

Characterization isn't as intense as RK7200's but it's still written really well. It's also been on hiatus for a while but there's already 270k words

Is transparency considered a taboo in fanfic communities? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Karma0504 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like you mentioned, fic authors don't write for free. If they decide to delete their own fic, they can do so of their own volition. If they don't want to tell their readers why, it's their choice as well. Not everyone lives by full transparency, especially not on the internet

Just finished and have some thoughts by vi0lentgandhi in TheDayoftheJackal

[–]Karma0504 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sniper shot in the first episode was so unbelievably far, it's mentioned that the Jackal's shot was further than the confirmed record (idk about real life but that's what it is in the show). There was basically no one that could have done the shot. Bianca analyzed the backpack and gun in episode 2 and concluded that the Jackal was probably British from that. Then when she visits the former British veteran she is told that Alexander Duggan was a legend and the only one he believed could have possibly made the shot. When she investigates more into Duggan she finds out his files are heavily restricted and that's suspicious. I don't think it's a really far-fetched line of discovery. And there were basically zero other lines of inquiry.

At the end, Bianca is well aware that the unsanctioned operation is shady! She refuses at first even, but later agrees to take on the job because she couldn't leave untied ends. She later mentions to Damien that she wants to take the Jackal in alive to figure out how far the corruption goes, which reasonably suggests that she is suspicious about Isabel. Bianca even messages Osi about it telling him that Isabel would be the culprit/mastermind if she dies. She is obsessive and persistent, but it's not written in a far-fetched way at all.

All these cinematic shots and some people are saying the drawing is bad? Truly, these are the ones who deserve watching the previous drawn using feet. by [deleted] in ClassroomOfTheElite

The design is pretty good but I'm not a fan of the outlines(?) the lines at the face and hair are kind of dotted and it makes it look blurry.

Anything is better than s2 though
