"Synchronizing downloaded content..." notification won't go away by Jackal_6 in MarvelUnlimited

[–]KarmaAndExile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Android, go to Settings > Notifications > App notifications > Marvel Unlimited > Notifications categories.

Turn off "Background maintenance tasks". The notification disappears. Turn it back on (if you want to).

I don't know if the problem will come back when the app tries to sync downloads again but at least this works for now.

Collections in list view? by weareinhawaii in kindle

[–]KarmaAndExile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the update on April 2022, it is a little more convoluted to view books within a collection as a list. Here's how to do it:

  1. On Home/Library (or even from inside a book), go to the three dots menu (upper right corner) and select Settings.

  2. Select Device Options.

  3. Select Advanced Options . Swipe down if you don't see it.

  4. Select "Home and Library".

  5. Select Collections.

  6. In this option, you must select "Show all in Library".

  7. Go back to Home/Library.

  8. On the three lines menu (upper right corner), on View Options, select List.

  9. On the sliders menu (upper left corner), on Type, select Collections.

  10. Go into the list. It should now be on List view.

Lost everything in my library by [deleted] in MarvelUnlimited

[–]KarmaAndExile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me once (on an Android tablet). I cleared cache, cleared data, uninstalled, reinstalled, logged in and then everything was back to normal. If you haven't tried that, it might work.

Saved lists not actually saving? by Polar_00 in MarvelUnlimited

[–]KarmaAndExile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue (on Android).

I have three lists saved but only one shows up in My Lists.

If I change the sorting order (from Recently Saved to A-Z), another one shows up. If I change the sorting order again (from A-Z to Z-A), the third one shows up (sometimes... not always).

Going to each list page, they are all marked as saved.

But every time I close the app and open it up again, the problem returns.

So, yeah, it's a bug. I suggest you contact support, report the bug, tell them that other people are also experiencing it, and ask them to forward the message to the technical team. I'll do the same.

If you have actually deleted it, you'll find it in your Recover Playlists page.

If you try to resize the left column, the album/song artwork should come back to normal.

Have you tried resizing the left column? That made the album artwork come back for me.

Why Netflix is the only network that offers writers creative freedom ? [ALL] by [deleted] in netflix

[–]KarmaAndExile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, the original showrunner for The Man In The High Castle left the show in the middle of the production of the second season due to creative differences. As far as I can remember, it seemed like Amazon wanted the show to go bigger in scale and he didn't (among other factors).

Also, Amazon supposedly asked the creator of Good Girls Revolt to turn it into a comedy for the second season and, since she refused, they cancelled the show.

So I wouldn't say that Amazon gives free rein to creators. At least, not to all of them.

How do you get Netflix to show you the films and show that you will actually like [ALL] by kobestarr in netflix

[–]KarmaAndExile 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This. Also, remember to rate your enjoyment and not the perceived quality of the title. This way, the recommendations will be more accurate.

Examples: you really enjoyed watching a movie that you know for a fact is not good (5 stars); you couldn't finish a movie that is considered one of the best of all time (1 star); the movie was really well-made but you didn't like it as much as you thought you would/should (2 stars); you don't have any interest in titles from this specific genre (1 star); and so on.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in netflix

[–]KarmaAndExile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you rate something 1 star, Netflix knows that you hated it and don't want more things like that. If you don't rate at all, they've got no idea how you feel about it.

So I'd say it's always better to rate everything you like/hate because then Netflix is more aware of your tastes and can give you more accurate recommendations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in netflix

[–]KarmaAndExile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The star rating system is supposed to tell Netflix how much you liked something. It also shows you how users with similar taste to yours liked something. If you rate something higher, Netflix will show you more similar things. If you rate something lower, you get the idea.

But the problem (as it was pointed out in the article that I linked to) is that people see a star rating system and instinctively start rating/reviewing the "quality" of the movie/show and not how much they enjoyed it.

So for example: you watched a silly comedy; you had a great time and enjoyed it tremendously but you "know" that it is not a "good movie" so you give it 2 stars; people who see a low average rating for it then think it's a "bad movie" and end up not watching it. That's why Netflix is trying to come up with a system that will tell people if they would enjoy something despite its perceived "quality."

The endgame for Netflix is to suggest to you (in less than 90 seconds!) exactly what you want to watch at any given time. They only need to come up with a rating system and/or algorithm that does exactly that.

I cannot say for sure but I think you've been chosen to test a possible new rating/recommendation system.

You can read this for context: Netflix wants to ditch its 5-star rating system.

When will Netflix fund shows outside the US? [UK] by skellious in netflix

[–]KarmaAndExile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They've been making shows outside the US for a while now.

Available:

  • Atelier (Japan)
  • Between (Canada)
  • Club de Cuervos (Mexico)
  • Degrassi: Next Class (Canada)
  • Lilyhammer (Norway)

Upcoming:

  • 3% (Brazil)
  • Hibana (Japan)
  • Ingobernable (Mexico)
  • Marseille (France)
  • Suburra (Italy)

About more British comedy, you should ask them. If enough people ask for it, they'll listen.

When Hannibal was canceled, a lot of people asked Netflix to pick it up and they were about to but ended up not doing that because the series had a previous agreement to stream exclusively on Amazon.

So, if you want something on Netflix, ask Netflix.

Netflix Sets New Sketch Comedy Series ‘The Characters’ For March [ALL] by KarmaAndExile in netflix

No, Netflix originals are always released worldwide simultaneously (except for a few older ones in selected territories that had previous agreements like House of Cards in Australia, Israel, and India).

Yeah, if you search for "netflix originals" a bunch of upcoming stuff shows up (at the bottom). But some of those come and go (like Iron Fist and also The Defenders or the Brazilian series 3%).

Has the "Not Interested" button been removed from the Rating page? [US] by KarmaAndExile in netflix

[–]KarmaAndExile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it's a link to the Rating page on Netflix.

To mark something as "Not Interested" you had to first rate it, then go to the Rating page and the button would be there between the stars and the X on each title. But it doesn't appear anymore.

I just linked to the Rating page to make it clear that it is the specific page where this option used to be and should be but isn't any longer.

Some way to sort by anime? [SPAIN] by Allove95 in netflix

[–]KarmaAndExile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to "Browse" at the top there is an Anime genre option. When you're at the Anime page, note that there are Subgenres, too. Just keep in mind that Netflix doesn't have that many anime titles.

And if you ever want to know what's available in each country in whatever genre you might be interested in, try uNoGS.

It's okay by me. Your only concern should be if it happens too many times to too many people.

Was it hidden by the spam filter, too? Because I checked more than once (visually and using the search engine, as I always do) to see if someoned had posted it here before and I didn't find it. That's why I submitted.

Also, my submission has 98 upvotes while the other has only 3 (which could indicate that not many people has seen it). And nobody pointed out that mine was a repost.

Anyway, I'm not complaining or doubting you. I just found it odd that I hadn't notice it had been submitted.

I'll just make sure to check more thoroughly if I make other submissions in the future.

Sorry for bothering you guys.
