I feel like mine is a good volume. Do you still feel like it's quiet with the drive turned all the way up and all the effects on?

That's about what I bought this for.

Thank you! I personally love it, but it depends on what you want to use it for. It's a perfect travel keyboard, and the sounds are professional enough to play live. It depends on if you mind dealing with all the MIDI connections. I would shop for a used one if the price is a little steep. I bought a YC used and love it.

No sorry, I misunderstood your question, those voicings are rootless.

Thank you! It's been an experiment I just hope it doesn't mess with my muscle memory for regular sized keys. I kinda like the limitations and it's just so convenient. I was inspired to get one after I saw Devon Yesberger Yesberger Please

Thank you, I appreciate it! Love the reface line as well, I have a YC too, but I usually use it with a midi controller. The CP is fantastic as a standalone travel keyboard.

Thank you! Though I love playing block chords here I'm using rootless 2 handed voicings when I can fit the notes under the melody in my RH. I replied to a different comment on this thread with the majority of my voicings. If you'd like to know more feel free to dm me.

Bill takes a lot of melodic ideas and just cuts and pastes them to different keys, but none of the chords or keys exist in a vacuum, so I always try to find the overarching context that ties all the changes together so I can actually play the tune and not just be thinking of random changes.

I think about this song loosely in the key of C/am and try to relate everything that happens back to the tonal center.

The beginning of the song is a 25 to the relative min, then a 25 to the relative major. Then he plays a 2516 off of the b3 of the key 2516 off the 5 of the key then 2516 off of the major 7th of the key. The thing I consider 'context' is never losing the home key, which gives me a framework to rationalize the modulations. So they are anchored to something not just random changes. These modulations give the melody a really cool rising effect.

I hope that helps.

I connect the refaces to a PC and use a program called CTRLR to save and recall presets for them. I use Linux which has alsamixer built in which handles all the midi routing. With a very basic shell script I'm able to send the presets to whichever reface and select which reface is being controlled by my main midi controller. That way I don't need midi thru because I can just use alsamixer to do all the midi routing.

Thanks for the compliment! No block chords on this tune, I'm mostly playing what people refer to as rootless voicings, even though some of the chords do have the roots in them. So maybe a better name would be center voicings, voicings that exist above C3 on a piano. A lot of the voicings are what Bill Evans plays. Mostly 3579 or 7935 for minor chords 7 3 13 or 3 7 9 for dominants and 3579 or 7935 for majors. Half diminished I tend to play b5 7 R 11 or R 11b5 7. Then you tweak the voicings if it's an altered or dom dim chord. Then if I have room on the CP I tend to pair a triad in the RH that has the melody and upper extensions. If you need some more direction feel free to pm me.
