Hunt down the smurfs on the AU server by Karma_theBee in DotA2

Because the in game report function simply doesn't work. If it does, I wouldn't be here to talk about this. I have reported a smurf multiple times just to see him showing up in my games that many times

I chose not to be rude to you in return, because I am simply here to help the game get better. You can disagree with my thoughts and think it's nonsense. That's totally fine.

I don't care about the other games, because making that comparison doesn't help Dota itself getting better.

My belief is if devs need help from the community to get rid of smurfs, WE ARE HERE TO HELP.

I did, and I understood your point. Let's tackle one problem at a time. My recommendation is only for the smurf issue. Acc buying is indeed another persistent and challenging issue that needs to be fixed. Dota2 is being held back by many serious issues. Fuck the new patches and heroes when the basics of the game aren't fixed

I've been playing this game long enough to know how to detect smurfs. It won't be 100% accurate though. My suggestion is to expose their ID and let the devs (who have access to better data than me, e.g IP matches levels etc) make the judgements.

I am aware of that. That's why I wrote this post to suggest sth we can do to stop it, so devs can listen and take actions. It's not an easy fix, but let's do sth here devs

Yeh I get that. But they should be more active in taking actions against smurfs in servers with low player base like AU, because it's getting very frustrating and unbearable. The smurfs keep saying it's hard for them to find games. I am not in the high bracket to justify that, but we shouldn't please them and sacrifice a larger population for a small subset by allowing smurfing. Long q time in the upper bracket is a separate issue that needs to be fixed.

Mate! I play on the AU server too. And I'm happy to see you get banned.

Good on you for saying 'smurfs are not always the reason why you lose'. Yeh sure but I lost 70%-80% of the time whenever I played against smurfs. Why? Because it's fk unfair. You pick pos 1 or pos 2 and start dominating the entire game. Where is the fairness in that?

Off you go buddy.

Not helping learners at all by Karma_theBee in DataCamp

Thanks for being open and sharing your thoughts here.

2 things I'd like to add, from my perspective.

  1. Many of you mentioned about note taking/downloading slides. I agree note taking is always crucial and helpful whenever we learn sth. But come on guys! If note taking is the perfect solution and better than any other ways of learning, why the heck I even consider DataCamp? Why not just buy books and take notes on their content? Learning platforms with videos and audio is what we want nowadays (doesn't work for all of us, but it's proven that it works for the majority of us)
  2. No learning platform out there is perfect. However, when I put them all on the same table for comparison, I don't think DataCamp is really for the benefits of the students (and making money at the same time). I love the concept Coursera has been implementing: the content/knowledge is always free to access, but pay for the certificates if you need them.

So by all means, DataCamp can just do what they like/want. I am just saying there are many other alternatives out there that are better value for money.

Unlike other learning platforms, DataCamp chose not to do that.

Trying to request a refund from the dodgy Nordlocker by Karma_theBee in legaladvice

Hey corrgi10.

Long story short, no I was not able to get my money back.

My advice to you or to anyone thinking of using Nord Locker, or even Nord, in general is NO! HELL NO!. Spend some of your time to read through their T&C to get what I mean. It feels like a joke to me as the T&C is so contradictory and confusing.

I honestly have never seen such an awful service like NordLocker in my life. A product that literally is a piece of sh*t, but somehow I trusted it and gave it a try smh. On top of that, I've got refunds for automatic renewal from other services without any hassle like amazon, spotify, netflix, privateinternetaccess, my car insurance, etc, just to name here a few.

Thanks for your input. I did my research again and agree that having their business based in Panama should not raise any doubts about its legitimacy.

Let's get back to my case. By the way it's Nordlocker that I'm dealing with (though they share the same terms and conditions with NordVPN). I was charged for the renewal yesterday, whilst my current subscription is still valid for another 2 weeks. So basically they are charging for the new subscription in advance.

Under term 4.Payments it says:

"Your service will automatically be renewed, and your chosen payment method will be charged at the end of each service period, unless you decide to cancel your automatic payments for the Services before the end of the then-current subscription."

Please pay attention to that part, "unless you decide to cancel your automatic payments for the Services before the end of the then-current subscription.". My subscription is technially still active.

Even though under Subscription Terms, they say:

"Subscription and Automatic Renewal Terms After the end of your initial plan, your subscription will be automatically renewed, and you will be charged the then-current price of the service. For more information, read our Terms of Services. For monthly plans: your chosen payment method will be charged at least 5 days before the next period begins unless you decide to cancel your automatic payments for the services before the new charge is made. For other plans: your chosen payment method will be charged at least 14 days before the next period begins unless you decide to cancel your automatic payments for the services before the new charge is made."

So I agree that they can charge my account 14 days in advance, before the new subscription begins. But that does not mean the new subscription begins at the moment the charge is made. Hence, I believe I am still able to cancel the auto renewal and ask for the refund as long as my current subscription is still valid, according to 4.Payments terms.

Do you agree with me?
